The Role:As Operations Manager, you will work as part of the senior management team to deliver a project or series of projects at one time. You will lead a team of highly skilled civil, mechanical, electrical, process and commissioning engineers to achieve the completion of water and wastewater infrastructure. You will report monthly to the framework manager on all aspects of project performance including programme, budget and HSQE.You will develop and foster an one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. In this client-facing role you will uphold our core values and inspire a culture of trust and collaboration with our clients and respective delivery teams. You will be involved in all aspects of project delivery from design through to construction, commissioning and handover to the Client.Main Duties and Responsibilities:The main duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager are outlined as follows:

  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
  • Instil a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions.
  • Work closely with all key stakeholders including clients, client representatives and third-party agencies.
  • Ensure a positive experience for the client and their representatives instilling an ethos of collaboration and cooperation while upholding the position of Glanua.
  • Provide single point of contact to the client as the Contractors’ Representative for projects and instill confidence to the customer in your actions and ability to deliver projects for them successfully.
  • Facilitate the co-ordination role of the Principle Designer for live projects with internal and external designers. Represent the company as Principle Contractor on live sites within your remit and co-ordinate all required documentation to be present on-site and up to date.
  • Conduct regular Health, Safety & Environmental assurance activities on live sites as well as safety interventions instilling a leading-by-example culture.
  • Ensure best practice programme management techniques are used such as Lean Construction and Last Planner.
  • Monitor programme performance including risk and opportunities. Mitigate/reduce risk where possible and manage opportunities.
  • Report on the monthly performance of your programme to the framework manager including performance against programme, budget and HSQE.
  • Lead the team in the procurement of supplies and sub-Operations on time and within budget.
  • Manage cashflow on projects and co-ordinate with Commercial team to ensure interim payment applications are submitted on-time to the client.
  • Build and promote industry-leading teams by providing training and mentoring of staff including setting out development plans for your team.
  • Provide line management for delivery team including conducting regular 1:1 sessions, performance appraisals, probation reviews and dealing with any escalation issues.
  • Provide an active involvement in resource management and recruitment within your team as a hiring manager.
  • Provide assistance, oversight and guidance from time to time on tendering opportunities for new upcoming projects.
  • Present on project performance and any initiatives from time-to-time as may be required.
  • Respond to and address any client and stakeholder complaints in a timely manner. Obtain client satisfaction surveys and provide any feedback on how to improve our client satisfaction.
  • Seek to improve the project delivery process by providing lessons learned feedback and innovative solutions for adoption on future projects.
  • Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Other duties as required from time to time.

Specific Objectives Relating to the Role:

  • Ensure a positive H&S Culture on-site and that H&S standards are maintained at all times with a high emphasis on maintaining standards and achieving zero lost time.
  • Establish programme team and build strength, depth and capacity as the programme ramps up. Hire and onboard any new hire requirements that have been identified.
  • Structure a multi-site mobile programme delivery team to move from project to project providing outline design, SI works and pricing (RFP Process), detailed design and project delivery.
  • Build teams that know and understand the way Glanua delivers projects and that can work autonomously and competently in their roles to deliver projects once your term in the UK has come to an end.
  • Co-ordinate all disciples of Design, Civil, MEICA and Commissioning to ensure there is a seamless flow through work packages with zero downtime in work areas.
  • Ensure quality checks are completed and a robust ITP/ITR process is developed.
  • Provide support and advice, as required, to the wider Thames Water Framework team.
