Job Description:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.As Senior Manager, OnCorr Train Operations you will work directly with ONxpress and Metrolinx Train Operations team to ensure a seamless and successful transition from the legacy contractor to ONxpress.What will I be doing?

  • Become a subject matter expert in the OnCorr Project Agreement.
  • Manage the development of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Requirements by engaging with multiple internal and external stakeholders through Governance to acceptance.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of the new Concept of Operations.
  • Review of Contractor project document submittals from an operational perspective in various technical design submissions.
  • Assist various Operations Workstreams towards Transition of new operator.
  • Identify elements to improve the performance, efficiency, and quality of the rail operation, including additional track infrastructure, signaling, fleet functionality improvements, and communication systems
  • Establish and manages quality assurance programs for contracts, monitors key performance indicators, and initiates corrective actions
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations, new directions, or recent findings in operations studies

Qualifications:What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Business Administration, Transportation Planning, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated years’ progressively senior experience in railway operations, railway corridor engineering, and contract management, and customer service, preferably in the public sector and/or unionized environment
  • Qualification in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the applicable legislation and railway operating rules affecting railway, environmental, public, and employee safety is required
  • Leadership skills to manage, mentor, and develop unit teams; experience in the application of collective agreement provisions to monitor and manage employees and contractors
  • Experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery of externally provided products and services and monitor service delivery and performance against contract provisions
  • Project management principles and practices to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (i.e., development, project progress, related staff and project resources) to monitor project activities for adherence to timelines and project performance objectives
