General InformationCountry: United KingdomState: N/ACity: LondonOffice Location: 77-79 Farringdon RoadDate posted: 09-Jul-2024Business Function: SalesPosition Type: Full-Time/RegularDescriptionWe are hiring a Business Development Manager who is ready to join us in London.The role involves to take ownership and accountability for a defined sales region (Northern UK market) to maintain and develop profitable growth within that region by working with existing dealer partners, identifying new distribution/dealer partners where required and developing your own direct sales network and vertical markets to support growth.Partner with assigned dealers’ leadership and sales teams to develop, track and manage their dealer sales plan alongside prospecting and leading high priority sales opportunities of your own from identifying the opportunity to close.Help close priority sales opportunities led by the dealer’s sales force. Provide leadership in account planning / strategy. Act as the dealer voice within Steelcase. Develop programmes for dealer in training, support, mock-ups, showroom branding, new product launch, etc.Lead by example by selling our value proposition to clients using insights and research in a consultative process.What You Will Be Doing:

  • Prospect and develop sales opportunities within assigned region. Identifying and managing the relationships with new key clients and lead the sales process through to closure and implementation of long terms agreements and partnerships.
  • Close priority sales opportunities with the dealer, lead the sales process, including lead generation, submission of tender documents, mock-up, taking full responsibility for closing.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and weekly updates.
  • Lead relationship development and alignment with dealer management
  • Lead alignment with dealers across all categories / products, resources and corporate programs
  • Focused on and accountable for growing business across categories and identified growth / target areas for the region and/or dealer
  • Develop training programs to support growth in dealer capabilities
  • Any other tasks required, as appropriate to the role
  • Act as the primary contact and coordinator with dealers, advocating for their needs within Steelcase.
  • Network and build relationships with influencers across the region to grow both dealer networks and regional market presence.
  • Collaborate with UK&I Director and Channel Consultants to develop dealer business plans.
  • Lead annual strategy alignment session with all categories, influencers, product specialists, WPC, and SAMS to ensure alignment and support on dealer plans
  • Track and update dealer plans quarterly based on opportunities, product launches, and training.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and updates of dealer plans and opportunities.
  • Lead monthly dealer business reviews regarding sales progress, potential opportunities, upcoming events, etc with dealer sales management and include internal resources as needed
  • Work with dealer sales teams to execute account and opportunity strategies, leveraging Steelcase resources.
  • Participate actively in sales activities, providing insights, mock-up experiences, and securing additional resources as needed.
  • Conduct a minimum of twelve planned face-to-face sales calls a month
  • Maintain opportunity sheets for major projects in CRM.
  • Lead Steelcase and dealer teams in assigned must-win opportunities.
  • Coach dealer sales management and reps on business development, strategy execution, and sales performance management.
  • Increase dealer engagement and market share for the complete Steelcase portfolio.
  • Plan sales activities and enhance success rates using account and opportunity strategy tools.
  • Secure Steelcase resources and coordinate training plans to improve dealer capabilities in sales skills, showroom branding, and new product launches.

Who You Are:

  • Business Degree or relevant business qualification and minimum 5-year sales experience, preferably in a B2B environment
  • Previous experience with a global matrix organization, working with remote project team members and distributed management
  • Experience building long-term client & influencer relationships
  • Proven repeated experience in securing new multi-million-pound accounts.
  • Ideally well connected within the London construction and interiors market.
  • Fluent English a necessity
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Proven account management ability including developing strategies.
  • Strong team and collaborative working ability
  • Commercial acumen. Solid understanding of global and local economies and trends
  • Ability to build long-term working relationships with highly diverse functions in customers’ organization (purchasing, facility management, general direction etc.), specifiers (Architects and Designers – A&D), marketing and product experts and other relevant partners and dealers as part of a complex sales approach.
  • Proficient use of IT supporting tools such as CRM, Outlook calendar, tablets, smartphones, and confidence in interacting via webinars, living on video applications, virtual meeting tools, business applications
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Autonomy, adaptability, commitment, and team playing qualities will be highly valued.
