About our Team

The Lancet Haematology is part of The Lancet’s international family of world-renowned medical journals committed to publishing the best science for better lives. The team will handle high quality research, reviews, and commentaries to drive thought leadership across all aspects of clinical haematology and haematology-oncology. They will build solid relationships with research communities to ensure we offer, exciting, interesting and thought-provoking content.

About the Role

As a full-time Senior Editor, you’ll publish original material for our online journal. You’ll oversee individual submissions, ensuring high-quality content through peer review and developmental editing. You’ll have opportunities to commission content, write, and record podcasts. You’ll build global relationships with Haematology experts and may travel internationally to conferences and institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating peer review of high-quality research papers

  • Commissioning engaging state-of-the-art reviews and commentaries

  • Taking ownership of individual sections of the journal as required

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with our global communities to attract high-quality research for the journal

  • Attending conferences and events to represent the journal

  • Writing editorials that define the journal’s identity

Requirements

  • Have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline with editorial experience on a peer reviewed scientific/medical journal

  • Have the ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences

  • Be able to build relationships with external stakeholders, including medical and research professionals, internal teams and members of the media

  • Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently to demanding press deadlines

  • Have an excellent command of the English language and the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner

  • Have proficiency with MS Office and ability to pick up IT systems rapidly
