If you are looking for a challenging, yet rewarding career path, you will enjoy being a part of the manufacturing team.General Description:With support from the Health and Safety Manager and the site leadership team, the EHS Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of processes to maintain EHS compliance and to continuously reduce EHS risk. The incumbent will also provide Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) expertise relating to applicable regulations, controls, programs (ISO 14001:2015) and state of the art methods of EHS management. In addition, they will provide data management to ensure all required reporting and communication to Regulators is complete and accurate. Provide informal EHS leadership to promote and drive success at all levels of the organization through building EHS capability within the site, to include EHS Management System Element Owners and members of the EHS Element Teams. This will include building and leverage relationships with formal and informal leaders to drive EHS down, up and across the organization.Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Monitor and support defined environmental, health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable corporate, provincial workplace EHS regulations, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Ensure EHS required activities are performed, data is accurate, organized, maintained, and reported to identify opportunities to enhance EHS compliance and reduce risk.
  • Maintain, coordinate, and deliver EHS training to new hires and PEC Team Members.
  • Provide hands on leadership, coaching and follow up with site Team Members and contractors.
  • Provide guidance in the areas of Industrial Hygiene, Hazard Communication / Chemical Management and the SDS database.
  • Audit and manage ISO14001:2015 site certification.
  • Support EHS teams including PEC. Provide guidance and assistance with PEC activities such as regular meetings, PEC training, incident investigations, risk assessments, ergo assessments and Joint Health and Safety Committee inspections / functions.
  • Maintain a deep level understanding of existing Environmental Regulations in order to ensure compliance with NPRI, GHG and OBPS programs. Ensure required activities are performed, data is accurate, organized, maintained, and reported as required.
  • Complete vendor visits and audits was required.
  • Inspect and audit EHS related process and equipment on site.
  • Maintain records, databases and track, trend, and report results.
  • Developing waste management programs
  • Co-ordinating spill clean-ups
  • Reviewing and maintaining all plant environmental permits
  • Developing environmental budget requirements for the Nappanee plant
  • Providing plant representation between Ministry of Environment, Akron, and Napanee concerning all environmental issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety Technology or a related technical qualification
  • Have experience in an environmental role
  • Are recommended to proceed by the core team including your immediate manager and Shift Operations Manager (based on your performance evaluation and observed behaviors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently and act on own initiative in support of team-based objectives
  • A high attention to detail
  • Previous technical education and/or expertise
