As the Manager, Talk and Talent, the successful candidate will work with the talk radio team to develop and create must listen to shows in all day parts built on a foundation of engagement and credibility.This leader, in collaboration with the National Director, Talk Radio will be at the ground level providing direction, mentoring and feedback for the station’s Talk Show Hosts, Show Chase Producers and Technical production teams.   • Work with and guide the talk talent and the supporting content creation team.
  • Coach talent and producers ensuring strategic direction is understood and plans are put in place to ensure success for 680 CJOB.
  • Understand a culture that embraces engagement and performance through partnership tools.
  • Oversight of staff shifts and vacations within the Talk side of the radio station.
  • Oversee all aspects of the content for multiple platform distribution.
  • Builds and maintains relationships and profile in the community.
  • Understands how to build ratings through compelling talk radio content.
  • Responsible to reflect all the communities we serve fostering diverse voices and perspectives reflecting the entire community.
  • Firmly grasps promotional opportunities to build engagement and audience loyalty.
  • A passion for sports broadcasting and will build on the existing professional sports partnerships that are part of the CJOB brand.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree in Journalism/Broadcasting, Radio Television Arts or equivalent experience.
  • Major market radio talk and news leadership a must.
  • You are a leader and collaborator extraordinaire.
  • Engaged interested and know how to coach, develop and guide the talk radio team.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • One-of-a-kind creativity to build original station promos and radio station imaging.
  • You understand the story and how to translate great narrative into compelling talk radio.
  • Your hallmarks- dynamic, knowledgeable, flexible, thoughtful and urgent.
  • A strong proficiency with social media on all platforms.
  • Creative flare in building podcasts to deliver audience.
  • Creativity and imagination to build a one-of-a-kind team.
  • You understand how to be part of the listener’s everyday life.
  • You understand how great performers connect with listeners.
