Apply today!The RoleWe are currently recruiting a senior level Construction Manager to set up, oversee and grow our new construction division in Northern BC with a primary office in Dawson Creek. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background with some civil knowledge and has spent considerable time onsite turning over successful construction projects and other business ventures. He/she is most likely considered the “second in command” at their existing place of work and hungry to take over the number one spot to run and grow the business. He/she is an entrepreneur with a vast network of contacts and business relationships in the area. They have considerable construction knowledge and can see where the industry is headed and what opportunities may arise. They have experience in business development, setting up and running a business, establishing a team, top notch client relation skills and general business and financial literacy skills.Compensation/Benefits

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing and growing the Northern BC construction arm of OCL.
  • Establish a construction foothold in the area focusing on mechanical related construction.
  • Business Development. Seek out and evaluate lines of construction related business.
  • Use their vast understanding of the area and large network of contacts to establish business relationships.
  • Set up fabrication and coating shops or other facilities or infrastructure needed to support lines of work.
  • Start up construction projects, assign team members, ensure successful execution, budget and schedule adherence.
  • Work closely with our First Nation Partners
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Oversee estimates for project scope of work, including labor, supplies, materials and other costs. Review contracts and bids.
  • Drive cost-effective strategies yet take calculated risks to establish a viable business.
  • Ensure safety standards are being met and when possible exceeded.
  • Lead direct and indirect reports – ensure proper mentoring, training, performance management and when necessary discipline is taking place.

Education/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 + years of Superintendent or Construction Manager experience leading large scale mechanical, industrial or civil projects.
  • Experience as a business owner is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of BC tax, payroll, permitting, and Work Safe BC requirements
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Business development skills and experience.
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator.
  • Well known in the community and industry.
  • Good computer skills required. e.g Bluebeam, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, google calendar. We are a Google based company.
  • A demonstrated background in team leadership with a focus on worksite safety.
