The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.The successful candidate will play an important role within a team working towards the development of mammalian expression systems and bioprocesses for the large-scale production of biologics including recombinant proteins, viral vectors and viruses. Responsibilities will include the provision of technical support services in the design, planning, preparation, conduct and analysis of various experiments and/or tests, and the coordination with and maintenance of related biosafety level 1 and 2 laboratories and related equipment.Screening CriteriaApplicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:EducationM.Sc degree in Biotechnology, Biomanufacturing Bioprocess or Chemical engineering.College diploma in biochemistry, molecular biology, biochemical/chemical engineering, or a related field with significant bioprocess engineering experience will be considered.For information on certificates and diplomas issued abroad, please seeExperience

  • Significant hands-on experience in animal cell suspension culture is a must
  • Significant hands-on experience working with instrumentation used for off-line and on-line measurements of operating parameters and cell culture metabolites and cell counts is a must
  • Significant hands-on experience in operating bioreactors in different production modes is a must
  • Significant experience in operating under BSL-2 environment
  • Experience with transfection methods and/or the production of viral vectors
  • Experience in analytical techniques applied to quantification of viral vectors
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint Microsoft softwares for data management, data analysis and data reporting under structured technical report format using these softwares
  • Significant experience is equal to at least 2 years experience.

  • Knowledge of cell culture priciples and working in asceptic environment
  • Knowledge of bioprocess development for mammalian expression systems using different analytical methods for viral vectors and optimization approach and technological trends applied to the manufacturing of biologics.
  • Knowledge of the challenges of processes development applied to the production and scale up of complex biologics.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, good practices and quality assurance
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety best practices in a safe and healthy work environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing including SOPs, presentations, guidelines, reports and scientific manuscripts.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices will be considered an asset.
