WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Senior Manager of the Career Development Team, you will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operational oversight of career development and performance management for consultants within the LAB (London, Amsterdam, Brussels) system. This includes leading key programs to support career development for all consultant levels, and managing the performance review and bonus processes.The role will report to the LAB Talent senior Director and will manage the Career Development (CD) team (10 persons of which 5 direct reports). The CD Senior Manager will work across the LAB Consulting population, interacting extensively with People Managers, PA Business Partners, CD Chairs, CDAs and People team leadership to optimise the development of our Consulting talent.You will:Process ownership:

  • Secure a comprehensive career development process for the consulting population in LAB.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of new programs and adapt existing initiatives to meet the distinct needs of the consulting team.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the integration approaches and onboarding for lateral and experience hires, ensuring their specific development needs are met.

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage the Career Development team, ensuring smooth and efficient performance review and bonus processes for Associates through Partners.
  • Co-chair the senior CD committees, frequently engaging with key stakeholders to ensure a holistic and diverse dossier perspective as the senior CTs advance through their career stages.
  • Ensure fairness and consistency in all Career Development Committees (CDCs) across LAB.
  • Lead the year-end bonus processes and manage the CDC budget.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with LAB Talent Senior Director, CD Chairs, Career Advisors, and other functional teams to deliver a coordinated approach to career development.
  • Support capacity management by understanding relevant pipelines and resolving talent assignment conflicts.

Performance Management:

  • Balance business needs, key stakeholders, the interests of clients and manage preference of CT talent in a high-performance culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to CD Chairs and co-create with them best in class Career Development procedures with an eye to inclusion, equity and transparent decision-making across L-A-B offices
  • Ensure high-quality performance evaluations aligned with grading guidelines.
  • Manage performance improvement plans and CD related issues applying in collaboration with HR, escalate to the Talent senior Director when required.
  • Diagnose talent issues using accurate metrics and KPI data, partnering with people leaders to address gaps.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide leadership on areas for innovation and continuous improvement in the career development processes.
  • Implement changes based on feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Participate to the design of the Future of CD and the development of the new Global CD Tool
  • Using your BCG network, ensure LAB CD is ‘best practice’ across BCG, including organisation & process innovations

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Extensive experience in a People-related role, with prior experience in management consulting highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, with the ability to handle a broad range of tasks. Confident in the use of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical and numerical abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, under pressure, and autonomously.
