Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in the education industry based in Portland, Maine. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity where you will be responsible for maintaining the Accounts Payable system, handling vendor and employee payments, and assisting in year-end financial audits.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage the Accounts Payable system for internal vendors

• Accurately enter data for voucher expense reports, cash requests, and petty cash reimbursements

• Prepare weekly invoices and process requests for payment

• Manage and respond to Accounts Payable-related correspondence and calls

• Process all employee reimbursements and workshop registrations

• Oversee credit card bill processing and prepare journal entries

• Follow up with employees on various Accounts Payable issues

• Assist with annual 1099 reporting and filing

• Attend necessary meetings and serve as a backup for vendor invoice processing

• Assist in Accounts Payable-related matters for year-end financial audits or third-party agency audits. Requirements • Must be proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) processes

• Experience with Expense Reports is required

• Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Experience handling Credit Card Deposits is necessary

• Must possess strong organizational skills

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

• Good communication skills are necessary

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Familiarity with accounting software is preferred

• Must have a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles

• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required

• Educational background in Finance, Business or a related field is preferred

• Previous experience in a similar role within the Education industry is beneficial.
