This position will rotate between CancerCare Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre. The Clinical Assistant or Physician Assistant will work with a multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care to patients with the pediatric cancer or hematologic disorders in CancerCare Manitoba and the Winnipeg Children’s hospital. This position will involve assessment of on-treatment and patients undergoing follow-up surveillance after completing therapy. The Clinical Assistant or Physician Assistant will be expected to develop competence and perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, and lumbar puncture. Attendance at weekly rounds and working weekends is expected. This position will report to the Department Head of Primary Care Oncology and Department Head of Pediatric Oncology & Hematology at CancerCare Manitoba.Qualifications:Required:

  • Eligible for registration as a Clinical Assistant or Physician Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills in English (oral, written and listening)
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Must hold a satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Asset:

  • Experience in dealing with complex medical patients and with cancer patients
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with ARIA
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Ability to speak French
