DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a candidate who can adopt a strong analytical and data-driven approach to book publishing. In this role, you will leverage data insights to inform editorial decisions, optimize the publishing process, and identify promising self-published book series and authors to acquire.
Looking for a candidate who can leverage qualitative data and insights to uncover untapped author talent and trends, but who can adopt the softer skills of being able to Earn Trust with external partners.
Bias for this role is data driven decision making, and we’ll invest the time to develop the traditional editorial skills needed for the role.Key job responsibilities
Must have:
Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data to drive editorial decision making and measure results

  • Proven project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Passion for the publishing industry and a deep understanding of evolving reader preferences.

Nice to have:

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen understanding of what makes a successful commercial fiction title
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with authors, internal teams, and external partners

A day in the life
Key deliverables in first year:

  • Acquisition of 6+ titles in first year by evaluating, and developing submissions and publishing proposals.
  • Analyze sales data, reader reviews, and other performance metrics to identify 2+ existing author brands to develop onto the fiction list.
  • Managing title set through the production process from manuscript to publication, including cover briefing and positioning, (working closely with internal teams)

Dive Deep. Ability to analyse complex data sets, going beyond surface-level metrics to discover publishing opportunities and uncover root causes behind successes and failures.
Deliver Results. Skill in deriving actionable, data-backed insights from complex information, using them to guide decisions around manuscript development, packaging, and go-to-market planning
Ownership. Necessity to take ownership of authors and titles.
Bias For Action. Focus on speed to win an author and makes timelines for a project.
