UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) provides strategic and technical advice, leads regional advocacy efforts and support efforts at country level to influence ongoing policy and system reforms, leverage additional commitments and resources for children. In order to perform their roles effectively, the members of the Regional Office (RO) team are expected to have profound knowledge of the countries that the RO serve, as well as the requisite technical expertise and skills. During a recent internal programme review, the EAPRO team acknowledged that profound country knowledge within the East Asia Pacific (EAP) region is an area needing improvement.
Since early 2024, the Programme and Planning team has introduced the “Know Your Country” initiative, a multi-media approach to promote learning and understanding of the countries within the EAP region. One of the deliverables of this initiative is to set up Sharepoint pages where information on each country is stored and organized, for easy access and learning. A draft prototype has been developed, and the next immediate step is to replicate this for all the 14 countries in the region.
The objective is to support the completion of knowledge product (Sharepoint pages on the Know your Country series initiative) and provide overall support to the Planning and Programme team.
Responsibilities and Main Tasks:
- The Programme and Planning team is looking for an intern to support the key development of knowledge products designed to promote in-depth understanding of countries in EAP Region and support internal knowledge sharing practices.
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:
- Planning related tasks
- Conducting research to populate all data fields needed to generate the Know Your Country (KYC) SharePoint (SP) pages
- Providing quality assurance and checks on content and links on each SP page
- Supporting the liaising with country offices for quality assurance of the SP pages on KYC
- Supporting the design and dissemination of the Sharepoint pages to promote the utilization
- Supporting the maintenance and summary of evidence/data relevant to Regional Office areas of work
Duration of Contract:
- • The assignment is proposed for 3 months from 16 September 2024 onwards (3 months).
- • This internship is full-time, at 35 hours work week.
- • In-country working modality in Bangkok, Thailand is considered for this assignment.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Be enrolled in a Master’s programme in a graduate school or be a recent graduate.
- Be proficient fluent in at least one of UNICEF’s working language: English, French or Spanish and fluent in the working language of the office.
- Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor.
- Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.
- Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to; and
- Are not disqualified under the UNICEF Child Safeguarding Personnel Standards (DHR/STANDARDS/2019/001), or as amended.
