Job Description
WHATS THE JOB?
As Vice President of Information Technology, you will be a strategic leader responsible for implementing information technology (IT) strategies, developing and implementing a master data strategy and overseeing technology operations within Dexterra. You will play a critical role in improving business processes, data management and analytics and decision-making through innovative information systems. This includes working with the business units and corporate support services to ensure that systems can scale efficiently to match the increasing demand of our growing business. This role reports to the CFO, combining technical expertise, effective communication, and leadership to shape the company’s technological landscape, ensure efficient resource utilization, and drive innovation. You will be:

Accountable to execute on strategic information technology initiatives, develop an in-depth understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the business, and balance planning and delivering on future information technology requirements with the implementation, maintenance and performance of current infrastructure and systems.

Responsible to develop processes that regularly evaluate existing technology, information systems and staffing while creating plans and a roadmap, in cooperation with relevant business-line leads and stakeholders, to improve based on industry, technology and market trends.

Successfully implement existing and future technology projects, ensuring project sponsors are engaged and deliverables are achieved. Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders (internal or external) to ensure project mandates meet the needs of the business.

Accountable for implementing the enterprise-wide data strategy and execution including data management and analytics for decision-making.

Lead and support a high performance team of skilled IT professionals while establishing a collaborative and performance driven culture that attracts, retains and motivates high caliber teams.

Provide business cases for new solutions and emerging technologies and recommend how these solutions and technologies can improve our business including the use of artificial intelligence.

Promote a culture of innovation across Dexterra and support operational teams with their technology and innovation initiatives as required.

Ensure the reliable day-to-day operation of the technology infrastructure and systems.

Assess IT and cybersecurity risks and design, implement and test business continuity and disaster recovery procedures to mitigate those risks.

Implement policies and procedures to ensure the protection of company IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of corporate and personal information.

Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to technology.

Ownership of the annual operating and capital budgets for IT and supporting companywide infrastructure.

Communicate IT plans, policies and technology trends throughout the organization, including to management and operational groups.

Establish, monitor and report on KPI metrics to relevant stakeholders and the executive management team.

Effectively manage vendor and partner relationships.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

A minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, operations research, or business administration. master’s degree is recommended.

At least 15 years of work experience, including leadership roles in software development, data strategy and data management and IT in a service industry.

Experienced in leading best practices; experienced with Agile development methods and working in a complex, service-oriented sector/business
-
Proficiency in large platforms, network infrastructure, distributed computing, and financial systems.

Solid experience and expertise in engineering, systems, and architecting platforms for the enterprise.

Demonstrated track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality application systems.
-
Experience overseeing an enterprise-wide digital transformation.

Possess deep expertise for managing complex projects with bottom line impact.
-
Ability to clearly articulate complex systems and system strategies with team members to build support and understanding of objectives.

In-depth knowledge of technology security and cyber-attack defenses.

Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to non-technical audiences, and business concepts to technologists.

Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.

Ability to influence, orchestrate and drive change across a diverse and federated model organization

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Ability to travel occasionally, as required
