Given the increased focus on large-language models, prompt engineering, and generative AI, we are looking for a director to lead our newly formed Generative AI team. You will be working in our new GSK HQ, super centrally in London (https://www.gsk.com/en-gb/media/press-releases/gsk-announces-new-global-headquarters-in-central-london/).We are looking for a people leader with experience in delivering solutions using large language to join our team of experts in artificial intelligence. As Director, you will drive our overall Generative AI strategy and Roadmap. Ensuring we keep on par with the innovation in closed and open models and AI agents. As making Generative AI solutions is a very software development heavy, we expect the candidate to have strong experience leading development of complex AI solutions into production using cloud technologies of Google, Microsoft, and Databricks. The technical team, mostly still to be hired, will be truly global with people in the US, Europe and Asia.Job Purpose:Develop a new global team of Generative AI specialists to deliver actual business value throughout GSK Global Supply Chain! Ideally you, or the team you supervised, shipped a complex generative AI solution that combines complex source systems, structured/unstructured/graph/vector stores/graph/RAG, and end-user UX. Bonus points for having established a proper LLMops and Responsible AI practice around these solutions. You also drive the team to adhere to modern agile software delivery standards. You will need to use budget and internal resources effectively to deliver on GSC aggressive Gen AI ambitions.Overall, we expect the candidate to drive:– Developing our Generative AI platform roadmap and managing our solution space– Manage the budget of capabilities and solutions– Hire and develop Generative AI talent globally– Be-aware on the research and development in the field– Support buy vs build discussions– Educate technical and business leaders on the potential of Generative AI.– Co-create with the business appropriate use-cases that will benefit from Generative AI.– Create technical standards and blueprint for Generative AI scenarios.– Strong software development standards using Devops/LLMops.Business process areas in scope:– Supply chain– Manufacturing– CMC– QualityKey Responsibilities:– Hire and Develop a global Generative AI team – Define strategy for Generative AI team and manage budget for platform as well solutions building– Identify opportunities to apply the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Gen AI standards– Lead internal and external developers to deliver on the Generative AI platform roadmap.– Stakeholder management with customers, tech, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of Gen AIsolutions.– Collaborate with other AI teams to intake requirements as well with central Architecture teams to align Generative AI platform approvals.– Drive a strong engineer/software culture to deliver scalable platform & solutions.– Educate the organization both from IT and the business perspectives on Generative AI– Demonstrate a combination of business focus, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and programming knowledge to be able to quickly cycle hypothesis through the discovery phase of the project and excellent written and communications skills to report back the findings in a clear, structured manner.Minimum Requirements:– A higher degree (PhD preferred) in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Bioinformatics or related quantitative field – Experience managing, attracting, and developing technical talent– Understanding of LLMs fine-tuning and/or training lifecycle (LLMops).– Experience writing and presenting papers, documentation, and presentations to explain workWhy GSK?Uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.GSK is a global biopharma company with a special purpose – to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together – so we can positively impact the health of billions of people and deliver stronger, more sustainable shareholder returns – as an organisation where people can thrive.
