The Associate Director, IT Vendor, Asset Management & Operations is responsible for strategic initiatives that ensure the smooth operation of the IT Center of Excellence (COE); that support the tactical direction of IT transformation and that promote the overall blueprint of the CIO. The incumbent in this role manages administrative oversight of IT HR-related matters and organizational design and champions key leadership initiatives. He/She acts as a bandwidth extender to explore strategic ideas that fuel ongoing innovative growth. The Associate Director, IT Vendor, Asset Management & Operations is a highly visible individual who combines strategic planning, general business management, business development and project management to drive IT alignment and performance across the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advances strategic plans that impact the administrative, technical, financial and operational activities of IT by ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Collaborates with the CIO to define, promote and communicate strategic initiatives through organizational alignment, enhancement and transformation. Downstreams methods for IT efficiency through IT leadership teams by encouraging timely decision making and assuring defined management cadences are communicated and implemented.

  • Directs the execution of strategic initiatives by developing detailed workplans and timelines with clear action items. Develops action plans to mitigate potential risks. Ensures follow-through and sustains momentum to drive these initiatives.

  • Designs new and develops established IT management cadences. Identifies training and improvement opportunities in IT management policies, practices, processes and procedures and implements strategies to enhance and improve.

  • Conducts relevant business analyses including upgrading and monitoring executive dashboards/KPIs and provides CIO with results and recommendations.

  • Oversees and facilitates IT leadership team meetings and discussions.

  • Directs and manages a team of IT experts and professionals. Decision responsibilities in hiring, discipline and termination actions. Provides leadership in training, mentoring, coaching, motivating, evaluating and encouraging individuals to meet and exceed professional and IT goals and objectives.

  • Has fiscal responsibility for IT budget. Oversees entire business unit or all aspects of its centralized function.

  • Enhances accountability of leaders by tracking – and aiding in – completion of commitments.

  • Acts as a consultant/advisor with a keen understanding of business drivers of successful performance, to help IT leaders and staff prepare presentations for outside COE leaders.

  • Communicates insight to the drivers of IT COE operational and financial results to help self and others better understand alignment efforts.

  • Develops and cultivates trustworthy relationships with key corporate executives, market leaders & stakeholders and internal COE leaders to identify gaps in IT alignment and implement procedures to improve/resolve.

  • Assists the CIO with improving quality and scope of advice to CEO and key executive leaders related to IT strategy, operations and personnel matters.

  • Supports and completes ad-hoc initiatives including, but not limited to research, innovation proposals, technology publications and other resources.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Creates and manages enterprise-wide asset management systems and serves as liaison to the Finance and Legal departments as it relates to the functions of this position.

  • Ensures corporate and legal guidelines are followed for managing IT hardware and software assets.

  • Responsible for the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of asset management systems for all IT technical assets. Manages the IT portfolio with respect to cost, control, compliance and aligns with strategic business objectives.

  • Provides support to the Finance department by providing asset information and managing the physical inventory control.

  • Defines requirements for asset acquisition and procedures to include management and disposal strategies for the enterprise. Manages the maintenance of records/databases of current assets regarding age, usage, quality, etc.

  • Responsible for asset budget preparation, coordinates with IT Procurement on receipt of purchase orders, invoice processing and reconciles changes in inventory.

  • Responsible for the life-cycle management including procurement, deployment, storage, and disposal of information technology hardware (computers, tablets, etc.) and software (licensures, upgrades, etc.) assets.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills. Ability, maturity and poise to establish and maintain trusting relationships with diverse groups of individuals, including senior level executives. Ability to manage across geographically diverse associates and vendor partners

  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills (refine, summarize and clearly present data and information)

  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders about technical issues in non-technical terms

  • Exceptional customer-service mindset

  • Expertise in IT business models

  • Solid understanding of business functions (HR, Finance, Sales/Marketing, IT, Legal, Compliance)

  • Expertise and skill in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and/or nationally up to 30% of the time

  • Spoken and written fluency in English

  • This position requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required OR additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • A minimum of 5 years’ related work experience as an IT professional and at least two (2) years of people leader experience is required

  • In-depth experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and vendors
