The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called “Grow Green” Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. GGGI’s Internship Program is a project-oriented learning opportunity for students and recent graduates (within the last 12 months) to gain experience through specific assignments based on GGGI’s current operational needs. GGGI welcomes motivated, open-minded, and self-directed individuals to apply. You will be given an opportunity to work directly with outstanding and inspiring Green Growth professionals, participate in workshops and meetings, and contribute to analytical work as well as innovative rethinking on green growth.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
- The internship position will be with the GGGI office in Janakpur, Nepal. The intern will work directly with the Senior Project Coordination Officer, the Agriculture Associate in areas covering agriculture, agribusiness and general support for the office. The intern will mainly support the project “Building Climate Resilience and Reintegrating Economically Displaced Workers through Climate Smart Agriculture in the Terai Flood Plain (KOICA CSA) (2022-2025). The project supports widespread adoption of climate smart agriculture to reduce vulnerability and improve food and job security, especially for women and returned migrant workers. It does this by a) improving emergency management in the agriculture sector to protect lives and livelihoods; b) by strengthening resilient agriculture planning and implementation; and c) by building and financing climate smart agriculture businesses for job creation and long-term resilient green growth.
We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Nepal Office to support the CSA project team in communication and collecting data in the agricultureliaising with Senior Project Coordination Officer and Output leads to support the successful implementation of the project. More specifically, s/he will (the assignment will include the followings but not limited to):
- Support documenting best practices in climate-smart agriculture in Madhesh Province
- Support preparing climate-smart agriculture plans for project municipalities.
- Support communication with project municipalities in agriculture sectoral plans
- Support implementation of challenge fund activities for project municipalities
- Support to training/meetings and assist in designing and developing resource materials.
- Support on logistical arrangements for programs/events organized by GGGI, including concept note development, drafting invitations, designing banners, coordinating with stakeholders, and coordinating with the event venue.
- Support in office daily operation and administrative activities.
- Participate and contribute to technical discussions related to agriculture, forestry, agribusiness, disaster risk management and relevant sectors.
- Accompany project team to meetings and field visits to support and learn when required.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year) or Master’s program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Environment Science, Social Science, Business Administration and other related fields.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work
- Have good computer literacy in standard Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and graphic design software applications (photo and video editing)
- Residency in the Madhesh province is a plus.
- Possess an excellent command of English, Maithili, and Nepali.
