Job description

Reporting to the Director or Manager of the unit, the Summer Student will assist the Department that they are assigned to. Responsibilities will include: Assisting as necessary in preparation and implementation of departmental initiatives; Working on assignments and projects that will improve the processes and procedures within the Department; Acting as backup for Department Consultants/Specialist; Other duties as assigned by the Director or Manager of Department.Conditions of Employment

  • The minimum age to work in a casino or any area where gaming can be seen is 19 years of age.
  • Some SIGA locations operate in a high sensory environment. You may be required to work in an environment where you will be exposed to tobacco smoke, high noise levels, flashing and blinking lights, and a congested workplace. SIGA adheres to all occupational health and safety regulations and makes every effort to limit the adverse effects of these elements.
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to work shift work. This may include days, evenings, graveyard, weekends and statutory holidays. SIGA’s goal is to treat all staff fairly and equitably; therefore, the distribution of the shifts will be fair to all staff.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements as may be applicable to your position including but not limited to both SLGA requirements and the Anti-Money Laundering requirements set out in the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and regulations and policies made thereunder by Canada and FINTRAC.

QualificationsEducation

  • Currently enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in a certificate, diploma or degree program, and returning full-time as a student in the fall of 2018.
  • Preference will be given to candidates in a field of study related to the SIGA property and hiring manager’s business unit’s needs.

Experience

  • Experience in the fields of Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Procurement is an asset.
  • Experience in managing small initiatives is an asset.
  • Experience in research and analysis is an asset.
  • Experience working with various computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
