Operations include two manufacturing plants located in Edmonton and Customer Solution Centres located in Langley, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg.We are currently recruiting for a Fleet Supervisor for our Edmonton Shipping department. This individual is responsible for the supervision of the Fleet personnel and for the dispatching of the Fleet equipment for customer orders.In this position, you will be responsible for…

  • Coordinating fleet and dispatch department:
  • Organizing and track regular maintenance of trucks and trailers in accordance with NSC (National Safety Code) requirements and AWW policies.
  • Organize and dispatch driver and fleet equipment in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Communication with both external and internal customers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Ensure all licenses and permits for fleet equipment are applied for and up to date.
  • Driver trainer in regard to NSC requirements and AWW fleet policies.
  • Performing collision investigations as required
  • Review of vendors / vendor invoices and G/L codes for outside services for maintenance work, fleet washes, body work, and other services
  • Fleet contact in regard to making quick and accurate decisions regarding severe problems with fleet equipment requiring immediate attention.
  • Monitor and submit completed IFTA reports for AWW Head Office
  • Develop and Implement fleet process standards, Standard Work Instructions (SWI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operational Work Diagnosis (OWD) etc
  • Ensure good vendor management and drive Service Level Agreements (SLA) compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with the procurement to pay policy, track fleet & maintenance expenditures and explore cost control opportunities through innovations and price negotiations
  • Track and drive improvements of fleet Process Indicators (PI’s) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Track fuel supply, issuance, consumption per vehicle and driver, putting up actions to manage consumption and save cost.
  • Ensure compliance with preventive and corrective maintenance schedules and manage maintenance Service level agreements.
  • Continuously provide current and accurate fleet data and information for capture on the Fleet Master Data
  • Drive process standardization and best practice implementation across all CSCs
  • Liaise with the procurement team on fleet procurement, replacement and disposal
  • Answer and deal with Fleet / Driver complaints and reply accordingly
  • Arrange and chair all driver’s meetings including, booking location, special speakers, arranging agenda
  • Accident scene investigation and securing the scene.
  • Supervision of fleet and transportation employees:
  • Ensure employee compliance to fleet safety protocols such as DOT inspection, FLHA and routine inspections as required by law and AWW.
  • Examining and signing drafted performance reviews at 3- and 6- month, and 1 year intervals, when employee changes Bands, disciplinary performance reviews/ performance improvement plans; issuing recommendations as needed.
  • Hiring and training of new fleet employees including completing the road test and vehicle inspection process
  • Disciplining employees as required.
  • Approving & monitoring drivers’ pay
  • Issuing and monitoring of drivers’ uniforms, tracking repairs, lost or stolen items and changes of styles

Primary Qualifications Required:

  • 3-5 years Fleet experience
  • Experience in warehouse management as well as shipping and scheduling
  • Dispatching experience an asset
  • Management and/or supervisory experience an asset
  • Fleet maintenance competency and experience an asset
  • Class 1 Drivers license
  • PDIC Training
  • Log book and hours of service
  • Vehicle inspection training
  • LCV certified
  • Load securement an asset
  • New Vehicle Rig up and Vehicle disposal
  • Must pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing
  • Must be willing to provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract
