Job Title: Warehouse OperatorLocation: Gloucester FactoryJOB PURPOSEThe RMS Operator is involved in the inload and outload of material and product from the factory. This includes the movement and accounting of material into and out of the warehouse, and from the end of line to the point of factory outload.The RMS Operator requires a basic knowledge of SAP systems for their area of use, as well as current licenses for all required Fork Lift Truck types and related handling equipment. They must be able to conduct manual handling of loads safely and are required to support warehouse and area cleaning. They will support the continuous improvement of factory logistic operations.RMS Operators will be trained in the mandated health and safety procedures for the factory and are required to monitor and implement necessary quality standards for material handling and storage. They must have a mind-set that supports our focus on Quality and protection of the environment.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Logistics Tasks. The scope of required logistics tasks includes:
  • Use appropriate material handling equipment to move product and materials from and to designated locations to support bulk activities in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Build pallets and orders as directed to support successful order fulfilment.
  • Safe handling and storage of materials.
  • Stock process – handles delivery and sorting
  • Work accurately to control warehouse inventory at acceptable levels.
  • Analyse material movements to locate parts, serial number, and quantity change.
  • Generate movement documentation.
  • Perform inventory count, stock material in the appropriate locations.
  • Efficiently load/unload trucks and transports with a forklift.
  • Assist the daily housekeeping and maintenance of the warehouse and logistics area.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to product age and quality.
  • Conduct inspection of logistic equipment including FLTs, pallet inverters, racking, etc
  • Safety – Working knowledge of the workplace and the hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures relating to the Sourcing Unit and allocated equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team. RMS operators are expected to raise SHE occurrences encountered on shift via safety tags, near miss forms, accident reports and other mechanisms where appropriate.
  • Workplace Hazards – Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the tasks in your area.
  • Environment / Waste – Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials. Non-conformances to waste standards must be escalated via appropriate supervisory channel.
  • Quality – Monitors quality against set standards and reports any product, hygiene and packaging faults. Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes emergency action to prevent them. RMS operators are expected to raise quality non-conformances / risks encountered on shift via appropriate mechanisms.
  • Problem Solving – Must demonstrate initiative. RMS operators are expected to resolve issues in their area that are within their skillset.
  • Teamwork – Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and able communicator. Be able to communicate with external parties i.e. truck drivers.
  • Training – it is expected that as RMS operator will share their knowledge of their area with other team members.
  • Physical Ability – RMS Operators require a level of agility to move between workstations & ascend / descend steps. RMS operators must have a level of physical capability which allows them to carry / lift loads within agreed risk assessment limits & feed materials into a machine / manually-palletise, etc. Assembly and control operations also require a level of hand eye coordination and finger dexterity. Monitoring and Quality assurance tasks require an adequate level of sight and smell. RMS operators are often required to work up to 12hrs at a time on a shift pattern including nights & must be physically capable of doing so where required. Must be capable to operate vehicles and drive FLTs.
  • Technology ­– must be able to interact with software to a basic level i.e. to input delivery data, interrogate storage systems and produce movement documentation through SAP, UTMS, etc.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be flexible to work other units / carry out other tasks where trained to do so.

ALL ABOUT YOUProfessional Qualifications:

  • National school leaver qualifications in Reading and Comprehension, Writing and Mathematics. This will support recording of data, analysis of machine performance and general teamwork skills with an emphasis on good communication.

Experience Required:ESSENTIAL:

  • Previous experience in the use of manual handling equipment including forklift trucks.
  • Can maintain focus and discipline for the task whilst demonstrating good problem solving skills to protect targets.
  • IT Skills – Competent in the use of computer systems with a basic to intermediate ability in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel and Word programmes.

PREFERRED / DESIRABLE:

  • Previous experience in warehousing.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems particularly SAP/SAP WM.
  • Experience of manufacturing in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company.
