  • As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Philanthropy Department assists in setting the operational vision and planning of the YWCA of Greater Toronto in the context of the Association’s Mission Statement;
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates all aspects of the fundraising function in the Association with department staff. This includes: special and annual appeals, direct mail, telemarketing, the Women of Distinction Award dinner, events, foundations, church and service club appeals, major gifts, individual appeal, memberships, digital fundraising, corporate giving, sponsorship, planned giving and any other fundraising initiatives;
  • Develops and provides leadership for capital campaigns when mandated
  • Develops and implements a donor recognition and cultivation plan that increases donor loyalty and giving.
  • Supervises and oversees the volunteer co-ordination function of the Association.
  • Provides direction, support, training and expertise to fundraising volunteers to achieve target goals
  • Contributes to the development of strategic, comprehensive and cost-effective public relations, media relations, and marketing plans to support the programs of the Association in coordination with the Director of Advocacy and Communications.
  • Participates with the Director of Advocacy and Communications in advocacy initiatives to improve services for women and children.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Equivalent to a Masters University degree in Philanthropy or Business Administration or other relevant discipline with over ten years directly related experience in all aspects of philanthropy with a strong leadership gift track record.
  • Experience at a senior management level.
  • Proven success in the non-profit sector with strong knowledge of the public and private sectors.
  • Energetic entrepreneur and gifted storyteller, capable of explaining the YWCA Toronto story engagingly and securing leadership gifts.
  • Proven track record of forging strong alliances in a fast paced environment and the ability to motivate others to high performance.
  • Previous experience in a feminist social service environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of another culture and /or a second language would be an asset.
  • Advanced managerial, leadership and organizational skills essential.
  • Advanced ability to research and analyze complex concepts and plan strategically.
  • Exceptional knowledge of fundraising, marketing and public relations is essential.
  • Fluency required in a variety of relevant computer software programs in a Windows environment, including fundraising database programs.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills are essential
