Roles & Responsibilities

Procure relevant data from external sources to augment internal data assets, ensuring adherence to data quality and standards

Assists in completion of data standards, rules, process flows and strategic data privacy impact assessments

Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy in alignment with organizational goals, encompassing data acquisition, integration, storage and usage for analytics purposes

Develop, review, support and conduct required trainings related to compliant use of data across business and stakeholders
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, IT and business stakeholders, to define and enforce data governance policies and procedures for analytics capabilities

Defines, develops, and maintains data security access standards and control to fulfill audit requirements

Manage oversight of third-party access and agreements for appropriate use, storage, and destruction business rules
-
Collaborate with IT teams to drive enhancements and improvements to backend processes related to data cataloging
-
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, security protocols and industry best practices in data management and governance
-
Provide guidance to business users in understanding and using data assets, including dictionaries, catalogs and access controls
-
Conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify data quality issues, data usage patterns and opportunities for improvement
Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Data Management, Information Systems or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience demonstrated in Data Governance practices, concepts, policies, and frameworks within the biopharma or healthcare industry

Experience in procuring and managing external data sources, including negotiations with data vendors and understanding data licensing agreements
-
Familiarity with regional data privacy regulations, such as GDPR or HIPAA and their implications on data stewardship and governance
-
Professional certifications in data management, data governance, or related fields (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, DAMA-CDMP) are preferred
Skills and Competencies

Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management and data privacy regulations

Proficiency in data acquisition, data integration, data quality management and data privacy regulations
-
Solid understanding of the integration aspects of various systems and terminology; and in-depth knowledge of data and information governance methodologies

Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI or Python, is a plus
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders internally and external
-
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to address data-related issues and drive process improvements
-
Strong organizational and project management skills to ensure timely and successful delivery of data governance initiatives
