Summary This position is located in the Office of Audit, Assistant Inspector General for Audit, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) and is directly involved in the independent oversight of developing, delivering or supporting IT systems and services. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Audit Manager. Responsibilities As an Information Technology Specialist (Information Technology Auditor), you will: – Perform a variety of highly complex assignments that include analyses, assessments, audits and evaluations of sensitive computer systems, information technology methods, controls and strategies, policies and procedures, management practices, and organizational structure. – Conduct audits of the most complex IRS information technology systems, operational methods, and other related IT activities. – Perform tests and evaluations, obtain samples, and retrieve and analyze computer- processed information. – Conduct interviews, management briefings, and entrance and exit conferences to exchange information and provide results to management. – Prepare and review work papers and audit reports in accordance with standards, policies and procedures. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: -Conducting and planning information technology audits or projects in accordance with applicable standards. AND Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following in relation to information technology audits or projects: Communicating issues identified; Recommending courses of action; Performing briefings and/or presentations to management to defend a position or to gain support from the audience. OR -Experience working for a tax administration organization in the areas of systems development or operations/maintenance or security. In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI’s Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
