PPG IndustriesYou will lead Environmental activities for the UK&I, ensuring that the people and locations are legally compliant and satisfy PPG Environmental, Health and Safety procedures, standards and processes. Establish a management system for environmental tasks and for assuring that all the required environmental documents are maintained per regulatory and PPG requirements.You will be the subject matter expert for the UK&I on environmental legislation and guide all 6 locations on environmental topics, including ensuring all legal required reporting is done for all sites on time and that operating permits are managed within limits. You will report to the EHS Country Manager.#LI-hybridKey Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the environmental compliance strategy for all 6 sites together with site EHS Managers by developing and aligning a local plan, according to business, corporate and regulatory needs
  • Manage environmental legal activities, environmental permits, annual environmental assessments / reporting and documentation to verify compliance performance at each location
  • Perform environmental inspections and assess environmental requirements of the PPG EHS MS (Waste, air, water discharge)
  • Assess any risks relating to divestitures or acquisitions together with the UK&I EHS Country Manager
  • Coordinate any environmental measurements required to comply with local regulations and operating permits
  • Perform periodic assessments of waste contractors to comply with the Global Waste Stewardship Program
  • Provide environmental training for the locations concerning Environmental legislation or PPG Environmental MS topics
  • Prepare and assist the locations for local or national government agency inspections and coordinates and action any follow-up action plans together with the site teams and EHS Manager
  • Oversee, obtains and reviews environmental permits and consents (air, waste, water discharge) for the location
  • Identify emerging environmental issues at the locations
  • Assist sites in projects where Environmental risks might be present or caused
  • Lead root cause analysis for incidents related to environmental issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in environment or chemistry or a related science with over 5 years experience
  • Working knowledge of United Kingdom and Ireland environmental regulations (British and European)
  • Working knowledge of interaction with local authorities
  • Knowledge of Waste packaging reporting requirements and EPR, SECR reporting, COMAH Report, Annual solvent calculations, permit variation applications, water discharge requirements, Operating monitoring Assessments, emissions monitoring, groundwater monitoring, Solvent management plans, ESOS and Abstraction returns
  • Working knowledge of COMAH sites / chemical manufacturing (advantage)
