Joining Amica means you’ll experience a strong sense of belonging, purpose, possibility, and growth.Become part of a team where you can make a real impact in the lives of others each and every day.OpportunityReporting to the Manager, Development Finance, the Development Accountant will be responsible for driving the full cycle accounting process for Amica’s development entities as well as supporting the identification and implementation of process improvements, streamline month end close, and supporting the Development Finance team as applicable. In this role, the Development Accountant will collaborate closely with our finance team, development team, and external partners to ensure financial accuracy, accountability, and efficiency across all projects.What you will be doingFinancial Reporting & Analysis

  • Oversee the overall accounting and financial operations cycle for the Development portfolio
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process
  • Prepare reconciliations and ensure timely recording of journal entries
  • Analyze transactions to ensure the existence, completeness, and accuracy of results of operations
  • Execute Amica accounting policies and provide guidance to residences
  • Drive the preparation of audit schedules and analyses and provide support for financial audits
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the month-end closing process
  • Liaise with our JV partners and project managers on projects under construction to ensure all financial and project information is received and up to date
  • Drive monthly analysis of results of pre-open costs against budget expectations

Internal Controls

  • Execute internal control processes and procedures
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal control matters to fully support development team and partners
  • Drive internal controls and financial process improvement by supporting internal process audits

Development Finance Operations

  • Be relied upon as the main point of contact for JV and internal Amica departments for monthly construction progress draws
  • Working with internal Amica departments in ensuring that development invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  • Support a seamless transition from development to operations finance accounting for new residence openings

What you will bring

  • Minimum three years in a Finance/Accounting role
  • Experience in construction, real estate, or senior living industry
  • Experience using a job cost module system
  • Experience using Yardi and OneStream
  • Hold or be actively pursuing CPA
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with and analyze large datasets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written, verbal and presentation
  • Strong attention to detail & an ability to interpret results to support business growth
  • Team oriented with an ability to build strong working relationships across the organization
  • Ability to make continuous improvements to processes with an emphasis on automation
  • Proven ability to succeed in a high-volume environment
