Seabee Gold Operation welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences to apply.SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for an Exploration Technician.About Your New Role:Reporting to the Supervisor, Exploration, the Exploration Technician is part of SSR’s multi-commodity Exploration programs within Canada as well as Resource Development drilling programs at the SGO mine site. The Exploration Technician plays an important role in geological data acquisition including:During Exploration drilling programs, they are responsible for core handling, teching, cutting, and sample preparation based out of the SGO mine camp and other remote Exploration camps. During Exploration field programs, they are responsible for soil sampling, till sampling, prospecting, and sample preparation based out of the SGO mine camp and other remote Exploration camps. During Exploration off seasons, they are responsible for core handling, teching, cutting, and sample preparation based out of the SGO mine camp while reporting to the Resource Development department.Your Key Responsibilities:Core box handling (estimated 50-70 lbs per box)Core techingCutting core samples as marked by the geologistTraversing through a remote bush environment while undertaking geological samplingOrienteering with GPS/compass to navigate traverse linesCollecting and recording high quality geological samples including soil, till and rock for geochemical analysisSample preparation for accurate tracking and shipment to laboratoriesAdditional tasks as requiredMaintain a clean working areaInspect equipment and inform supervisor if maintenance and/or new tools are requiredKeep inventory of consumables and report to supervisor when supplies are running lowAdhere to established health and safety regulations, policies, and proceduresTrain and mentor contracting technicians and summer studentsYour Knowledge and Skills:Ability to lift 70lbs and occasionally more with assistance of another employeeAbility to work in noisy, dusty environment with protective equipment onAbility to handle the physical nature of field work (hiking with a pack weighing up to 50lbs in rough terrain for the duration of the workday)Strong attention to fine detailCompetence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to work well with other employees in a team settingWillingness and disposition to live in a remote camp settingYour Education and Experience:The successful candidate will have:Possession of a valid driver’s license and Pleasure Craft Operators’ Card is requiredUp to date First Aid training is required, or may be providedPrevious experience working in remote environments is an assetPrevious core teching and cutting experience is an assetPrevious exploration fieldwork experience is an assetAbout Our Working Conditions:The position has a schedule of two weeks on-site followed by two weeks off-site. The two weeks on-site involve 11-hour workdays, whereas the two weeks off-site are time off. Occasional flexibility may be required to do shorter or longer on-site shifts up to a maximum of four weeks.The Seabee Gold Operation and other Exploration camps are remote with fly in fly out access.
