Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.About the role:Day to day, you will play a pivotal role in supporting other members of the HR Operations Delivery team resolving queries as first point of contact, collating and putting data into a presentable format, managing the team inbox and dealing with other HR contacts and business representatives as required. You will work closely with the other Assistant HR Officers in the team, providing resilience across all portfolio areas.We support our managers to deliver effective people management and to manage complex people management issues effectively. You will understand and identify complex people and employment matters and support HR colleagues with cases, including attendance, performance, probation and grievances, through to completion. Developing strong relationships with the wider HR team, managers, trade unions and the police federation is a key aspect to achieving this.By supporting managers in applying policies and procedures effectively we enable individuals to give their best. Assistant HR Officers play an important role in supporting managers at the informal stages of people management issues and proactively utilise people data to enable managers to take early supportive interventions.We’re looking for previous experience in an HR environment involving the provision of support to managers and supervisors in relation to people management issues as a necessary foundation for this role.Effective communication skills providing customer focussed guidance in a clear concise and direct manner is essential alongside the ability to work on your own initiative, multitask and to support others. You’ll need to demonstrate resilience and the ability to be assertive when dealing with challenging circumstances.This role will be based in Plymouth, at Crownhill Police Station. New members of the team are provided with an extensive, flexible training plan and induction on the Force’s HR processes and systems over a defined period of time.
