The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $83,094- $91,625 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: starting salary to max of $108,088 is available through annual performance increases.

Job SummaryMandate:
Reporting to the Team Lead, Digital Community, the Senior Technical Analyst is responsible for providing senior technical support, IT system design, and project management as part of the IT team supporting the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. This position works across the departments that comprise the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science to gather IT requirements, collaborate with stakeholders to implement IT priorities, plan and execute IT projects, and provides training to IT support staff and users to use IT platforms.IT knowledge required includes but is not limited to virtualization and containerization of applications and operating systems; website hosting and online content management systems; online collaboration platforms including SharePoint and version control such as Git; cybersecurity risk identification and mitigation; privacy impact assessment; computer workstation management; computer labs; enterprise networking; and audiovisual systems.Objectives:

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, instructors, staff, and students to design, implement, and support IT systems including:
  • Facilitate requirements gathering activities
  • Accurately document requirements and project tasks following a project management methodology
  • Manage the execution of medium to large IT projects
  • Collaborate with campus departments to manage information security risk and draft privacy impact assessments
  • Communicate project status and training to users and IT support staff
  • Act as a subject matter expert to respond to IT questions escalated from other members of the IT team about IT services supported by the Senior Technical Analyst such as:
  • Online collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Git, and JupyterHub
  • Physical and virtual computer labs
  • Packaging and containerizing software
  • Responding to information security risks
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to indirect reports including work prioritization, and problem-solving assistance in 1-1 and small group settings
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve IT services, processes, hardware, or software in response to industry trends
  • Works collaboratively with other subject matter experts in University Systems to ensure IT services are maintained consistently and in alignment with standards and best practices

Due to the critical, time-sensitive nature of the Digital Learning Environment and Support portfolio, this position must be able to act effectively under pressure and be able to diagnose problems and direct their solution quickly and accurately. This position may require you to work outside of normal working hours in an emergency or pre-scheduled basis.Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or other relevant discipline and a minimum of 3 years of experience including:

  • IT support experience providing support to clients.
  • Experience resolving complex IT problems related to Windows, Mac, and Linux computers.
  • Experience supporting complex system integrations.
  • Experience as a senior level (tier 2/3) resource for complex IT problem escalation and resolution.
  • Project management training and certifications would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and understand their impacts on IT.
