We will discuss with you and support opportunities for career progression. Typically, candidates in this role have progressed to Assistant Script Editor on our shows.Role Responsibilities

  • Maintaining development databases and trackers; and keeping on top of script submissions and responses.
  • Reading submission materials (scripts/treatments/books), flagging the best ideas, and writing coverage for the development team and executives.
  • Responding to submissions when required in a professional manner.
  • Meeting with writers and agents alongside members of the development team and Head of Development.Contributing editorially to development meetings and brainstorms.
  • Helping to identify new writing talent, uncovering original and fresh projects and keeping abreast of new writers across TV, theatre and literature.
  • Specific research and development support as required across projects on the slate.
  • Taking minutes when requiredProof-reading scripts and documentsManaging our script reader pool, including facilitating payments.
  • Occasional diary management for the Head of Development and development team.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria). Please evidence in your application.

  • Prior experience of working at a production company, UK Production Company, broadcaster or agency as an assistant, reader or runner.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the television industry and, ideally, World Productions.
  • Passion and interest in pursuing a career within TV.
  • Interest in identifying distinctive ideas, emerging writers, and creatives in the drama space.
  • An understanding of the drama landscape across all mediums in order to identify the most creative and distinctive new ideas and writers.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workloads and respond quickly to new circumstances, remaining focused on the task in hand.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to think on your feet and meet demanding deadlines to support development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and liaise with colleagues across the companyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT Skills including Word/Excel/Powerpoint and industry related software, such as Final Draft, and the ability to adapt to new technologies
