We’re excited to be growing and moving with the times to keep up with the fast-paced, ever-changing financial industry!We’re looking for a Leader of Capital and Balance Sheet Management to join our Treasury team!Reporting directly to the Head of Treasury, the Leader of Capital and Balance Sheet Management is directly accountable for connecting organizational and departmental strategy to meaningful work for the team, and by delivering the outcomes and results required of a modern Credit Union.This role leads the capital management and planning function by developing regulatory and economic capital plans and providing recommendations to make crucial decisions on strategy, business decisions and balance sheet mix.You play a key role in enterprise-wide stress testing exercises, including the ICAAP, ensuring resilience in the face of potential idiosyncratic and macroeconomic challenges.This role will also lead in the development and implementation of a risk-adjusted return on capital model across key business lines to ensure adequate profitability achievement in-line with corporate objectives.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and modernize the annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
  • Lead the Credit Union and engage with the regulator on any capital modernization related initiatives as a subject matter expert, leveraging national (OSFI) and international (Basel) regulatory guidance and best practice.
  • Develop capital models to provide strategic and actionable insights while ensuring compliance with internal objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement new pricing tools and methodologies, leveraging Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC) or other industry wide or proprietary practices to enhance overall return for the Credit Union.
  • Provide support to the business where needed to ensure adequate returns, focusing primarily on large commercial or other inorganic opportunities.
  • Support the line of business/business unit profitability reporting function with insights from a return on capital perspective.
  • Assess the Credit Union’s readiness for future changes to industry, competition or other market dynamics that may impact the Credit Union. In conjunction with others in Finance and Operations, develop long term, strategic balance sheet targets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Active professional accounting or financial designation (such as CFA or CPA) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to interpret Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC) and Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) guidelines to perform capital metric calculations.
  • Understanding of banking products and services and have the skill to apply this knowledge in the risk/capital framework.
  • Adept in using tools such as spreadsheets, SQL, PowerQuery and subsequent data outputs to produce reports and dashboards.
  • 3 – 5 years of progressively senior positions in treasury within a financial institution.
