We focus on building cutting-edge applications, reducing redundancy, and providing end-to-end solutions that optimize our business processes. While focused on full-stack application development, we often foray into platform connectivity, BI tools, and big-data visualizations.As the business place moves toward more data-driven decision making, the ability to access data easily becomes very important. In turn, we work closely with Data Science, Marketing, and Personalization teams to create one-of-a-kind applications that enable the Disney Company to reach new heights of customer outreach and conversion. While we use known technologies to speed our development process, we also contribute to and push enterprise design and productivity through our innovative partnerships.Using your skills and experience in full-stack development, you will join a fun team of technically capable individuals that pride themselves on delivering the highest quality product. Most of our applications are written in a NodeJS/Typescript/React stack, but we can cover many languages and frameworks with our breadth of experience. In this role, you will focus on our overall platform with a focus on the pieces that are Hulu-supporting: Near Real Time visualization system, event glossary and mechanisms, and reporting metadata repository/front-end. The work is fun and challenging, and we are often asked to break new ground in terms of user experience and application functionality.Join our small-but-mighty team in DE&E Tech and be a part of the magic!ResponsibilitiesDevelop full-stack applications as part of a unified platform and user experienceWrite code that is concise, optimized, and well-testedContribute to team discussions and planning sessionsSupport a broad platform of associated tooling through on-call rotationDeliver functional and supportable product as part of an agile development teamWork with design and test teammates to deliver high-quality and testable featuresWrite documentation for platform, functionality, or processes to augment knowledge transferReview teammate’s code and pull requests for overall quality, standards alignment, and test coverageBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or comparable field of study, with 3+ years of progressive experience in a software development (SDE) occupation, including automated testing of front end and backend servicesProficient in application development including NodeJS and React in JavaScript / Typescript3+ years of experience with full-stack application development3+ years of experience with high-test coverage delivery using unit- and front-end-test frameworks1+ years of experience implementing visualization libraries (D3, for example)Experience with application builds in an infrastructure-as-code system (Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloud Formation, etc.)Experience with development in a CI/CD/CT environmentExperience with performance tuning for large-data-set front-end / visualizationsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsOrganized, detail-oriented and able to deliver project tasks on timeStrong verbal and written communication skills.Being a highly motivated, self-starting individualPreferred QualificationsExperience with large-scale data libraries such as DruidExperience collaborating with shared React component libraryExperience with documentation creation / maintenanceExperience with developing applications in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)Experience working with Agile methodologiesWorking knowledge of web accessibility fundamentalsExperience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, or KinesisExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration/delivery systemsExperience developing mocking mechanisms for testsAdditional Information#DISNEYTECH
The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA or New York, NY is between $120,300 – $161,300, Los Angeles, CA is between $114,900 – $154,100year, in San Francisco is between $125,800 – $168,700. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
