This is an exciting opportunity for a Data Policy and Control professional to join our collaborative team, driving improvement and adding value across the Society. You can also find out more about our approach to .If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.What you’ll be doingYou’ll be responsible for supporting the implementation, operation and monitoring of Controls supporting Lifecycle Management of Data and Information.You’ll be running meetings, engaging with stakeholders and liaising across departments to bring these topics to life. Key features of the role are:

  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Data Framework, Policy, Standards and Controls; ensuring these are in line with best practice and focused on the desired Data Governance outcomes.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Data and Information Lifecycle Management and support business understanding of all aspects of the Data Framework, Policy, Standards and Controls in conjunction with subject matter experts from the wider team.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure Data Policies align and dovetail with other linked policies to provide a coherent view as data transitions across the organisation.
  • Define intended policy outcomes and providing expert counsel to stakeholders to ensure their understanding of expectations and their accountabilities with regards to adherence across change and BAU activities.
  • Work collaboratively across teams, to monitor adherence to the Policy and Standards and to embed best practice with key stakeholders and business functions.
  • Contribute to key data governance forums such as the Data Governance Council to ensure they are driving business benefit and progress.

About youYou’ll be a data/information professional with experience working cross functionally at an enterprise level to help business stakeholders understand their accountability and responsibility for the day-to-day governance of data and its management throughout the data lifecycle.You’ll have…

  • Subject Matter Expertise; Experience and knowledge of the various elements that make up data and information policy with the ability to use this to advise and guide stakeholders.
  • Policy experience – Varied experiences in developing, deploying and maintaining policies will be critical as a key part of this role is ensuring the Data Governance Policy and associated artefacts drive the organisation in the right direction.
  • Policy implementation – experience of supporting Policy implementation and the operation of Controls as defined by Data Framework, Policy and Standards.
  • Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance – experience working in a regulated sector and with experience of Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Stakeholder management – a key part of this role will be being able to talk to different stakeholders about data governance and what the Policy means for them to gain their buy in and provide the clarity they need to enact their responsibilities.
  • Experience of people management – this role will involve leadership of those outside of a direct reporting line, influencing and collaborating with others. There is also scope for this role to include management of people in the future.
