Job Title: Yard SupervisorLocation: Wallows Lane, Walsall, WS1 4AGSalary: £40,000 per yearStart Date: 1st November 2024Closing Date: 30th December 2024Job Overview:The Yard Supervisor manages all yard operations, ensuring the safe and efficient storage, movement, and handling of equipment and goods. This includes overseeing a team of operatives, supporting equipment hire and returns, and maintaining stock levels. The role also involves supervising loading/unloading, equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and providing leadership to the team.Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Hire & Returns: Manage asset bookings, load/unload delivery vehicles, and process returns, checking for damage and ensuring accurate paperwork.
• Service & Maintenance: Prepare equipment for hire, perform routine maintenance, and document service work.
• Team Leadership: Oversee yard operations, motivate staff, provide feedback, and ensure tasks are completed during staff absences.
• HSEQ: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Support risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
• Stock & Commercial Management: Monitor stock levels, conduct audits, report stock issues, and ensure cost-effective operations.

Essential Skills:

• Previous experience in a Yardman or similar role (plant hire industry preferred).
• Experience in loading/unloading vehicles.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Computer literate with attention to detail.
• Full driving licence.

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of plant, tools, and tunnelling equipment.
• Forklift licence and first-aid/fire warden experience.
