At North York General, our team is making a world of difference.Position SummaryThe primary focus of this role is to support the on-going development, management, maintenance and integration of the Human Resources Information Systems at North York General Hospital, specifically Oracle HCM Cloud. This includes the testing, validation and implementation of software updates and upgrades.Systems Engineer, Digital Health:
Your goal in this position is to be responsible for providing technical backend support for Hospital and HR systems. You have good knowledge of the IT industry with particular emphasis on Oracle HCM Cloud, Kronos and Office 365. You are passionate about learning new technologies. You have excellent problem solving abilities. You are a self-starter with sound judgement and decision making ability. You work well in a team environment or as an individual. You have good written and verbal communication skills. You have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. You are able to explain technical matters to non-technical staff members. You are customer service driven and willing to share knowledge. You also have good organizational and time management skills. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.On a practical level, you will

  • In close collaboration with fellow Digital Health Staff members and users, work on new project installations, system upgrades, domain/environment management and performance monitoring and tuning
  • Have In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows.
  • Have thorough knowledge of RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL, and Web Application Servers such as Apache/IIS, WebSphere and Jboss/Tomcat
  • Maintain and monitor all patch releases and design various patch installation strategies
  • Install and configure storage arrays and allocate SAN and NAS storage to different OS platforms and/or administer ZFS storage pools, file system, snapshots and clones.
  • Server virtualization using VMWare, XenServer MS Hyper-V
  • Conduct system backups and restoration using established processes and tools
  • Have Knowledge of Samba, CIFS, Printer server and Fax Solutions.
  • Be proficient in shell scripting
  • Document and knowledge transfer as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience, preferably with Human Resource systems
  • Installing, upgrading and supporting mission critical multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing environments on Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL RDBMS operating on Unix/Linux and Windows servers, preferably in a health care setting
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
