Our team cares for men and women with different types of cancers, including breast cancer, colon cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, melanoma, prostate cancer, and kidney cancer. Appointments at this cancer center in Cary may include lab work, consultations with surgical oncologists, visits with medical oncologists, and treatments in our open infusion suite.Address:216 Ashville Ave, Cary, NCHours:Full TimeMonday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PMJob Summary:The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The CMA performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice, they assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.Administrative Duties:
- Answer telephones
Greet patientsUpdate and file patient medical recordsFill out insurance formsHandle correspondenceSchedule appointmentsArrange for hospital admissionsArrange for laboratory servicesHandle billing and bookkeepingClinical Duties:Assist medical and nursing staff in a variety of tasks including:Taking medical histories and recording vital signsExplaining treatment procedures to patientsPreparing patients for examinations and proceduresAssisting the physician during the examination and proceduresCollect and prepare laboratory specimensPerform basic laboratory tests on the premisesDispose of contaminated supplies Sterilize medical instruments.Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient recordPrepare and administer medications as directed by a physicianAuthorize drug refills as directed Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacyDraw bloodPrepare patients for x-rays, tests and proceduresTake electrocardiograms Remove sutures/ staplesChange sterile and non-sterile dressingsMinimum Qualifications:Education
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
