Description :West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our division in Cochrane, Alberta, is recruiting for Weekend Clean-Up Positions (2 available).You’ll Be:

  • Focused on health and safety and ready to follow safe work practices policies such as lockouts, pre-task hazard assessments, and wearing personal protective equipment.
  • In good physical condition, climbing stairs, moderate to periodic heavy lifting, long periods of standing/walking.
  • Required to rake or shovel sawdust, bark and wood materials from within and around equipment in the sawmill, planer and post peeler.
  • Using compressed air or water hoses to aid in cleaning equipment.
  • Performing spark and fire watch activities (monitoring welding and other hot work to ensure a fire does not occur and to immediately address any incipient fires that start as the result of hot work
  • Painting
  • Seasonal grass cutting and weed removal as needed.

Your Shift:The scheduled shift is Thursday through Sunday, starting at 6:00 a.m. and working until 5:30 p.m. Some overtime is available for projects and seasonal activities.Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate starts at $27.71. An additional weekend premium of $.75/hour applies for Saturday and Sunday.
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays are included after 90 days.
  • Pension plan contributions commence upon hiring.
  • Safety equipment provided, such as gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, high-vis vests, high-vis coveralls and respiratory protection.

Your Workplace Location:Cochrane is a dynamic community of 36,000 in an excellent location just 15 minutes west of Calgary and 1 hour to Banff. Boundless recreation opportunities are available including a world-class Sports Centre.Hiring Criteria: Aptitude testing, pre-employment physical as well as drug and alcohol screening are required.
