OverviewWe currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join our International General Accounting team as an Accounting Manager. In this role, you will oversee the centralised management accounting team, working with various divisions serviced by the Global Accounting Centre. You will also collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders, including regional teams, divisional executives, and our Corporate Accountin function.
How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead the month-end process and ensure accurate reporting within the tight reporting deadlines. Review monthly journals prepared by the wider team along with the Assistant Managers
  • Take the lead on accounting for non-standard transactions including acquisitions, restructures, dividends etc. and work with Corporate Accounting to have these recorded
  • Manage a team of circa13 accountants while also working closely with local accounting staff, other Glasgow-based accounting teams, Corporate Accounting and the outsourced function in India
  • Develop department objectives and drive forward change to ensure that the department and team members improve, supporting all team members in their development
  • Manage the month-end reconciliations process to ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and on time. Participate in quality reviews of reconciliations and ensure required improvements are made
  • Input into management accounts reporting which divisional finance will use to assess monthly results and to feed in to the annual budgeting process. Ensuring that all areas are delegated throughout the team for completion, review the output and participate in review meetings as necessary with divisional finance teams
  • Support the quarterly review of earnout calculations and review of intangibles for impairment, liaising with local teams for additional support as necessary and recommending adjustments as appropriate.
  • Build relationships within the wider finance function in Glasgow as well as other regional teams and Corporate Accounting
  • Along with the Senior Manager, manage the relationship with divisional finance teams and ensure that quality of service expectations are fully met
  • Ensure SOX requirements are fully met
  • Take the lead on ad-hoc projects and technical tasks as required for the Senior Manager and the divisional finance teams
  • Work on centralising those accounting tasks which remain with regional finance teams. Work with the team to determine the tasks which should be centralised to India and Glasgow and assist with the process of transitioning those tasks
  • Work alongside the Senior Manager in shaping the team into a future optimal model, applying initiative to determine solutions.
  • Continue the work in the roll-out of a new local accounting package for the Artex division and identify further opportunities this brings for centralisation of accounting tasks. Work with the GAC project teams on the roll-out of Gallagher systems in line with the country-by-country project timeline
  • Assist with the preparation of material for periodic service review meetings and lead these meetings along with the Senior Manager and Head of International General Accounting
  • Support dividend planning, attending calls with Corporate Accounting and leading the approvals process

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ICAS/CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post qualification experience
  • Experience gained within a management role
  • US GAAP experience – desirable
  • SOX experience
  • Project management experience/experience of implementing new processes and/or controls
  • Ability to priority manage and adhere to challenging deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Attention to detail
  • Process redesign and implementation
  • Strong people management skills
  • Eligible to work in the UK
