The projects will entail projects across the St. George campus. The purpose of this posting is to onboard a seasoned electrical senior project manager, mechanical experience is an asset.Senior Project Manager Responsibilities include:Project Management:Leading, advising, and/or overseeing programs and projects from concept to handover. Managing multiple projects in various phases of development.Acting as single point of project contact, regularly proactively communicating with your client and manager. Establishing, maintaining and achieving project goals and criteria to satisfy client expectations.Completing projects within scope, schedule, budget, and the client’s changing needs.Managing the activities of consultants, contractors, suppliers, AHJs, operators, and stakeholders. Participating and supporting campus planning prior to approval to proceed to design and construction. Developing a contracting strategy, procuring, negotiating, and holding parties accountable to their contracts. Defining, documenting, and controlling project scope and changes to the specified level of quality.Developing a project control budget and baseline schedule aligned to scope; controlling cost and schedule. Preparing and updating a Risk Management Plan and mitigating project risks.Leading project meetings, preparing monthly progress reports and weekly flash reports. Maintaining complete and accurate project documentation, easily retrievable and suitable for audit. Troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure there are “no project surprises”.Fully and accurately informing your manager of project issues that could affect UPDC’s project targets and reputation.Ensuring that permits and projects are properly closed out and smoothly transitioned to operations.Team Leadership:Energizing, supporting, empowering, and mentoring colleagues on projects.Forecasting project resource needs and working with management to ensure projects are appropriately staffed. Ensuring UPDC expectations, policies, best practices, procedures, and methodologies are implemented on projects.Fostering an ethical environment of accountability, excellence, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation.Relationships:Collaborating, communicating, and building rapport with clients, stakeholders, adjacent property owners, and UofT peers.Working with developers, AHJs, landlords, tenants, architects, engineers, suppliers, and contractors. Positioning UPDC as a leader in project management services.Obtaining client feedback and opportunities for continuous improvement. Cultivating new and existing relationshipsEssential QualificationsEDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with professional license.EXPERIENCE:Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in the construction industry, managing large (construction value up to $50 million) and complex building construction and renovation projects or programs (e.g. heritage buildings, difficult construction logistics, multiple and varied technical issues, numerous permits and approvals required).Advanced knowledge of project delivery methods, project controls, constructability, contract and claims analysis, and building systems.Demonstrated experience in building infrastructure projects including electrical projects (high voltage electrical distribution, transformers and panel replacements), elevator / lifts, fire protection systems, roofing and HVAC projects is considered an asset.Managing risk and addressing unknown site conditions with broad knowledge of various disciplines such as structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, technological and building systems.Demonstrated ability in managing change and minimizing disruptions with stakeholdersSKILLS:Demonstrated organizational, project management and leadership skills. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Project/construction management and controls software for scheduling (e.g. Primavera, MS Project). Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.OTHER:Ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy, and discretion. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a consultative team environment. Highly developed creativity and initiative to deal with unique and challenging design and construction issues with frequently changing priorities. Proven ability to manage multiple projects within strict budget and timeline constraints. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and legislature, including OHSA, WHMIS.Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.This position may require travel between University Campuses and/or to consultant/ supplier offices.Closing Date: 01/19/2025,11:59PM ET
