The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
We are looking to fill two positions, and we need individuals who understand the value of public service and wants to help us meet the needs of our citizens. For the first position, we are looking for someone that is passionate about IT application development and testing. And for the second position, this person will need to be passionate about IT Security and Compliance. These individuals need to be an excellent communicator, meaning you can effectively make oral and written reports, presentations and prepare clear and concise documentation. You need to be capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and matrix support teams. We need someone who can resolve complex problems in a timely manner and seeks optimum solutions. You need to embrace diversity and learn to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals. Strong communications skills are a must.
These positions serve as a first line manager of IT resources and activities to ensure that the objectives and goals of the Michigan State Police are accomplished. Provides supervision and guidance to unit members, Agency Support and Michigan State Police client IT project teams. Prioritizes, coordinates, assigns tasks, and monitors resource allocation for staff and contractors to align with department-wide IT priorities and maintain effectiveness of IT operations. The first line manager’s primary responsibility is to support and develop the team, responsible for the different environments that support the multiple systems and applications for the Michigan State Police in addition to backup for duties of the direct supervisor. The IT Manager also oversees application and infrastructure vulnerability identification and remediations plans.
These positions will require the selected candidates to complete and pass a Michigan State Police Fingerprint Background Check prior to beginning employment.

Education
Possession of a bachelor’s degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.
Experience
Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator 12.
Alternate Education and Experience
Three years of experience as a computer programming supervisor or Information Technology
