Job DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated and passionate synthetic organic chemist to join our growing Medicinal Chemistry team as a Senior Research Associate at our Oxford site.You would be working as part of an inclusive drug discovery team innovating to develop transformative medicines for patients.The ideal candidate will be able to interpret experimental data and propose alternative synthetic approaches to achieve desired outcomes.As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to expand your expertise in drug design and knowledge of the holistic drug discovery process through interactions with colleagues across multiple disciplines and supported training and development materials to help you grow your career within the pharmaceutical industry.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute multi-step syntheses, optimizing and troubleshooting synthetic methods to provide small molecule drug candidates for biological testing
  • Interpret experimental data, from a variety of analytical techniques, with a high degree of reliability and accuracy
  • Exercise good judgement to prioritise work, considering feasibility, priorities and project impact
  • Present and share data within the team and department
  • This lab-based role involves synthesising compounds for biological testing, and generated with a variety of analytical techniques

  • Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of synthetic chemistry (synthesis, purification and analytical characterisation)
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • High levels of health and safety awareness, personal integrity and ethics
