We are now recruiting for a Head of Operations to join us permanently on our major project located near Aldermaston.
Purpose
To Lead, Coordinate and support Operations and Decommissioning Operations across Amentum controlled facilities. (Aldermaston). Accountable for work delivery against the program schedules.
Closely co-ordinate with decommissioning Project Managers. Supporting Site License Compliance in Amentum controlled facilities. Liaise closely with facility owners and ATOs.
The Head of Operations, is responsible for leading, coordinating and overseeing activities and personnel to deliver facility operations and decommissioning operations to support contract performance. Delivering access control, planning and work coordination for operations and maintenance / compliance works in facility. Ensuring License Conditions are not compromised by the respective facility / building works.
Responsibilities
Oversee personnel and activities to safely deliver operations, maintain schedules within
cost requirements and ensure sufficient resources to fulfill contract and company objectives. Advise senior management on operations and policy oversight for effective decision-making
regarding performance, strategies, issues, and optimal approaches to achieve customer satisfaction and contract compliance.
Ensure the implementation of strategic plans for operations to support contract requirements
and business development based on industry best practices.
Monitor operations, planning and work control performance drive best practice in nuclear operations and work control.
Advise management of significant issues and direct operations staff for immediate resolution.
Collaborate with various functional areas to provide services for supporting operations delivery and project requirements.
Develop training materials to ensure effective implementation and control of operational activities in their areas of responsibility.
Support and coordinate maintenance, repair, and operation of systems and supporting infrastructure if assigned.
Education & Qualifications Requirements
Proven experience in operations management environment with solid experience in a managerial role.
Ideally bachelor’s degree in business or associated discipline or demonstrable track record in successful Operations Management and Work coordination on a nuclear licensed site.
Minimum general education to GCSE standard in Math’s, Science and English Language OR equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
Certification by professional organization in related field (e.g. WANO experience).
Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Experience in Leading supporting emergency response roles.
Additional knowledge/skills may be required and will be listed separately.
Proven experience working in a complex/major project Operations delivery and high hazard decommissioning environment on a Nuclear Licensed Site, relevant to the scope of the programme or project to which the individual is deployed.
Key Technical Competencies
Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Operations Fundamentals.
Monitors, evaluates and influences plant conditions to maintain safe operations. Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of Nuclear Site License Conditions appropriate to their role.
Demonstrates understanding and contribution towards Event Reporting and Corrective Action process.
Able to produce, interpret and implement written and verbal Operational instructions. Demonstrates understanding of, and contribution to, the recording of key Operational data and generation of formal Records.
Understands and implements scheduled activities to deliver the Programme.
Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
As required, integrates or assists with support functions (e.g. Engineering, Project Controls, etc.) in support of schedule delivery.
Understands the concept, derivation and detail of the Safe Operating envelope for their areas of responsibility.
Due to the nature of the role and the client, it is important that all applications have resided in the UK for at least 5 years. We need all candidates to ideally be Security Cleared (SC) or have no issue in obtaining SC and DV. A prerequisite for SC is that the applicant has lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years.
Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.
