Overview
We are looking to grow the Project Management Team at Vizzuality with people with digital project experience, a high level of ownership, organization, and collaboration skills, and a passion for creating a more sustainable and equitable world for all life on Earth.
We have operations in Spain, Portugal, and the UK, and at this moment, people are working remotely or at our office in Madrid. You are very welcome to join us if you are eligible and willing to work in any of these three countries.
Depending on your experience, we can offer a salary range of €24,000 – €39,000.

3. Skills and experiences we are looking for in a candidate

Must have skills and experience:
- Proven experience managing and leading cross-functional teams in developing data-driven and online platforms or services.
- You can adapt to changing circumstances and thrive in dynamic environments. You remain calm under pressure and can handle multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience delivering projects on time and within scope and budget, as well as managing changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
- You can galvanize a team to deliver a project vision and provide the tools they need to succeed. You can work closely with the team and our clients to shape the project from the beginning.
- You have well-developed prioritization and organization skills. You are good at coordinating teammates and third parties/vendors/freelancers for the flawless execution of projects, and delegating tasks and responsibilities when appropriate.
- Skilled at creating honest and durable relationships with our clients that generate new work opportunities.
- You are an excellent communicator, both in writing and speaking. You can effectively communicate project expectations, motivate the team, and command the attention of a group. You feel comfortable communicating with financial and exec teams about performance, expected closing dates, progress, risks, and opportunities.

4. A day in the life of a Digital Project Manager at Vizzuality
We’re looking for someone who can work across teams at Vizzuality, collaborating with peers in business development, technology, design, and science. You will be the main point of contact with clients, helping them to follow our processes. You will be also responsible for the budget and the timeliness of our projects, as well as keeping team members informed and engaged so they perform at their best.
- You deeply understand our purpose and will work relentlessly to align it to our projects, and the way we make decisions.
- You can figure out how to work with our partners and clients effectively and create a fruitful relationship. As part of that, you’ll be able to describe how our teams work at Vizzuality, to help clients understand the project process and the key collaboration points along the way.
- You will be responsible for ensuring projects are developed on time and to the highest quality.
- As our projects are flexible and all different, some days you could be focusing on defining a roadmap and project strategy. Some other days you could be thinking about product definition and what’s the best way to solve a client’s need. And other days you will see yourself helping your team grow and deliver better. It’s key that you can have a flexible and adaptable approach.
- You will spend a lot of your time being the point of contact between the client and the project team, understanding and translating mutual needs, to add value to the project. You will understand the client’s and team’s needs
- You are also a great communicator and facilitator. You constantly scan your team’s skills and expertise to seek opportunities to improve quality, value, and client satisfaction. You know when to lead, delegate, and empower your team to do great things.
- As our partners and projects are implemented worldwide, you are comfortable working across different time zones and cultural contexts, in English and sometimes running workshops and face-to-face meetings abroad.
5. These are some of the things you will be achieving in your first year at Vizzuality
In your first month:
- You’ll shadow one of our PMs so you get used to the way of doing things at Vizzuality.
- You’ll familiarise yourself with many of the project documents from previous wireframes, designs, feature descriptions, initial proposals, and client communications.
- You’ll have time to learn the various software systems we use for managing projects and participate in weekly and daily project meetings.
- You’ll get to know people from the other functional teams: science, design, front-end, back-end, and business development.
- You’ll be assigned to projects to work on with support from another PM.
By the 3rd month:
- You will be autonomous in your work.
- You will be the first point of contact with our clients.
- You’ll input into new proposals, and come up with new ideas about existing or new work.
- You’ll be involved in the work planning of your team, to enable delivering our projects on time and within budget.
- You will work closely with your project team to plan the next releases and development sprints.
By the 6th month:
- You’ll be PMing few of our groundbreaking projects (we absolutely mean this when we say you’ll have ownership over your projects within six months!).
- You’ll be meeting with clients, working with our teams, and building the next great work from Vizzuality.
6. Compensation, Benefits & Growth.

Compensation:
- Annual salary between €24,000 – €39,000 (your final salary will be based on your experience and profile).
- Annual profit-sharing bonus plan (team bonus up to 10% of salary based on company performance).
