Ongoing training and development are part of every job, providing constant growth and skill-building potential.Be a part of the team — our future is bright!In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Quality Division is currently hiring for a Quality Technician I – Electrical & Controls.The Quality Technician I – E&C is instrumental in ensuring a world-class support service for Electrical and Controls maintenance and project work, by preparing Inspection and Test Plans (if requested), performing inspections and vendor surveillance activities to ensure work is completed in accordance with the design documentation, applicable procedures, standards and regulations.This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.What will you be responsible for?The core job function of the Quality Technician I is to provide a Quality function by ensuring that maintenance work and Project work are completed in accordance with the design specifications, drawings and procedures and to the requirements of applicable Quality Assurance programQuality Technician I – Electrical & Control (E&C) will carry out assigned duties which include, but are not limited to, Quality inspections and vendor surveillance of E&C related inspections, field support required to successfully complete the scope of the work,, use and maintain inspection instruments and equipment, report writingObtain and maintain core qualifications as required by job functionMaintain a working knowledge of station systems, work practices, procedures, applicable codes, and regulations, and be aware of developments in the Bruce Power Management System Programs and procedures, as applicable to the job functionSpecific Responsibilities:Establish contact and working relationship with engineering, maintenance, operations and work management staff. Establish contact with personnel of other departments, supply/service agencies and local representatives of applicable jurisdictional authorities as required to facilitate the performance of inspection and related activitiesAssist Supervisor in the preparation of detailed work plans identifying manpower and equipment requirements for performance of specific quality programsParticipate in training programs as required to achieve full capability within the various corporate safety and business processes necessary to function in the workgroup and its working environmentCoordinate work activities with other groupsTask and Work Order Assessing within the discipline of the job documentMaterial Verification of materials within the discipline of the job documentReviewing project schedule to ensure that activities are scheduled properly.Anticipate and identify problem areas, informing Supervisor as appropriate, and formally document all issues during the preparation, installation or commissioning phases of the project lifecycleOperate software, tools, machinery and apparatus to perform assigned duties.Review or assemble Quality documents and coordinate input per Supervisor or project teamCommunicate on a regular basis with stakeholders on matters pertaining to completion statusProvide completion assurance review and review of vendor history docketProvide regular status updates back to Supervisor, Engineering, Work Management, and the project teamEscalate issues/ concerns in a timely basis to ensure adequate awareness of the status of the workPerform other duties as requiredQuality Control (General):Review Engineering Change (EC) package and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Provide feedback to Engineering and Project Teams as requiredReview and provide input to technical procedures required to perform the Quality Control (QC) tests.Perform field walkdowns regularly to perform Quality Control Inspections and to review/witness field installations activities to validate implementation is carried out as dictated by the Inspection & Test PlanComplete function testingQuality Surveillance (General):Review Engineering Change (EC) package and vendor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to provide feedback to Supervisor, Engineering and Project Team as required.Provide oversight by reviewing vendor ITPs, non-conformance reports and provide feedback to the project team.Review vendor progress reports to ensure accuracy of the report as reported to Bruce PowerConduct surveillance observations of vendor inspections as specified in the ITPs. Requires attendance at designated construction vendor – customer control points. Inspect, verify and document adherence to Quality Control requirements by the vendorAs required, provide oversight and input to Factory Acceptance Testing via vendor inspection and test plans review. Perform inspections as directed by Line Management, FLM, and Project teamObserve completion of function testingQuality Function Support (Interface with Design & Component Engineering):Review and become familiar with applicable drawings, specifications, procedures and codes associated with the assigned work scopeReview approved construction vendor QA program with respect to Quality functionReview and participate in walk-downs of area affected by Engineering Change (EC) for standard industry practices and installation from Quality function perspectiveParticipate in construction vendor meetings from Quality function perspectiveParticipate in project team meetings during all phases of the project lifecycle with emphasis on quality functionProvide advice, when requested by supervisor, to and liaise with the assessing and materials function and design engineering on quality requirementsProvide oversight of equipment disassembly, packing, shipping and unpacking in the field from a Quality perspectiveVerification of materials ordered are ready to install (as directed)What are the key functional areas?Obtain & maintain core qualifications as required by job functionThe assigned inspection duties will include various electrical & control components, wiring and systems using Optical/Visual or other inspection methods. Prepare or assist in the preparation and presentation of detailed inspection reports, including the use of visual aidsMaintain a working knowledge of station systems, work practices, procedures, applicable codes, and regulations, and be aware of developments in the field of electrical & control through attendance at appropriate courses and lectures or through technical literatureKnowledge and Skills:Requires familiarity with CSA standards pertaining to the nuclear industryRequires knowledge of the relationships and interactions of the various Departments and Sections involved in the operation, modification and maintenance of nuclear power plantsAbility to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlinesRequires excellent level of written and verbal communication skillsEducation and Experience:Requires knowledge normally acquired either through the successful completion of Grade XII in a Secondary, Commercial or Technical School plus a two-year course of concentrated study in appropriate subjects obtained in an accredited College of Applied Arts and Technology, Polytechnic Institute or Community College for Electrical Engineering Technician, Instrumentation and Controls or Computer Engineering Technician or Manufacturing Technician or by having the equivalent level of educationRequires knowledge of material science, physics, chemistry, and industrial methodology related to the field of electrical & control in order to perform examinations and the required technical analysisRequires knowledge of technical writing skills in order to prepare clear, concise reports and knowledge of the English language in order to communicate effectively at all levels with personnelA period of over 4 years up to and including 6 years of related field experience is needed to gain the required qualifications.Requires familiarity with large-scale nuclear generating station layouts, station systems and equipment, and plant operating processesRequires experience with video, optical, photographic, and other visual inspection techniques as may be applied in component inspection practices.Are you ready for a change?Please complete the online application and attach a cover letter and resume, indicating your education and experience as it relates to this opportunity.
