- Assist the Head Chef in the management of the kitchen operations.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s menu specifications.
- Ensure that the kitchen maintains high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
- Manage and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to the standards and practices set forth.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing dishes.
- Handle food preparation and presentation efficiently under time constraints.
- Participate in tasting sessions and food presentations to ensure quality control.
- Assist with menu costing and controlling wastage.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by fostering open communication and collaboration.
Essential Qualifications:
- Relevant culinary qualification or degree from a recognized culinary school.
- Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality and restaurant industry.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Experience with menu development and costing preferred.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team effectively.
