This is a need for a Full-Time DON

Must be available to start immediatelyReports to: Administrator/and Executive DirectorSummary:The Director of Nursing (DON) is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing services within our skilled nursing facility. The DON ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care by federal and state regulations, established policies and procedures, and budgetary guidelines. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Must Show Leadership & Management:Develop and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures for the nursing unit.
- Supervise, evaluate, and mentor nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing personnel.
- Create and maintain staffing schedules that meet resident care needs and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the nursing budget and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of nursing staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing education and training.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
- Address and resolve staff concerns and grievances.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to nursing care.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
Resident Care:
- Oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans for each resident.
- Monitor the quality of nursing care provided and ensure adherence to established standards of practice.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.
- Address resident and family concerns and complaints.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity and respect are maintained.
- Clinical Expertise:
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing best practices and regulations.
- Provide direct patient care as needed.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff.
- Participate in the assessment and management of resident emergencies.
Other Duties:
- Participate in facility committees and meetings
- Represent the nursing department at interdisciplinary meetings.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator/Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nursing, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role in a skilled nursing facility.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate staff.
- Excellent clinical skills and judgment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency.
