As a vital member of the hotel’s leadership team, the Front Office Manager will foster a culture of success through strong leadership and a team dynamic that enables an elevated guest experience. We are looking for a strong team player and a people person who can identify team members’ ongoing development needs, including in-the-moment feedback, coaching, mentoring, and other supports. You will assist the Director of Rooms in monitoring team member performance, including supervision, scheduling, and timely feedback and recognition.   • Frequently handling Sedentary (S) loads up to 5kg. Frequently handling Medium (M) loads between 10kg and 20kg. Occasionally handling Heavy (H) loads more than 20kg.
  • Predominantly an Indoor (I) setting for work but involves some Outdoor (O) activities.

Skills you bring with you:

  • 3 years’ minimum Front Desk experience with a minimum of 2 years of service in a leadership role; experience in a hotel setting or related industry is required; resort experience is a strong asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to think on their feet.
  • Highly responsible self-starter and reliable team player, with the ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work within and promote an innovative and multi-tasked environment.
  • A working knowledge of hotel systems, specifically Opera PMS would be a strong benefit.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates what it means to be a ‘Service Champion’ for the front office, role modelling “welcoming” hospitality, and exemplifying excellence in guest service for the Front Office team by:
  • Identifying, creating and upholding process efficiencies and established Guest Service Standards as they relate to guest experience.
  • Being a role model for your team and leading the Front Office Team to ensure a positive first impression on guest arrival, swift resolution of issues during their stay, and a seamless check out.
  • Building individual connections with guests wherever possible to drive loyalty and referrals.
  • Owns departmental full cycle recruitment efforts such as conducting interviews, hiring, and departmental onboarding.
  • Ensures upselling techniques are utilized to maximize room occupancy and overall revenue.
  • Approves the front office team timesheets weekly for accuracy and approves employee vacation requests, when possible.
  • Develops and maintains a safety culture within the Front Office department, ensuring active departmental participation, adherence, and awareness to Hotel and WorkSafe BC standards.
  • Identifies the on-going development needs of team members, including in-the-moment feedback, coaching, mentoring, and other supports and resources to help improve knowledge, skills and performance.
