- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring high-quality food production.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to the restaurant’s menu and standards.
- Oversee the kitchen staff, ensuring effective teamwork and efficient operations.
- Monitor food inventory, maintaining stock levels and ensuring optimal food quality.
- Assist in menu planning and item selection while taking into account customer preferences.
- Enforce health and safety regulations in the kitchen to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering their professional development.
- Collaborate with the front of house team to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Contribute to the creation of seasonal and special event menus.
- Handle any kitchen issues, resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or relevant role in a high-pressured kitchen environment.
- Formal culinary training or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Familiarity with food sanitation regulations and health codes.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen and dining staff.
Desired Experience
- Previous experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment is preferred.
- Experience in menu development and cost control/management.
- Experience with a variety of cuisines and dietary requirements.
