And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.Product Stewardship Specialist (EMEA Oil & Gas Solutions)Job Overview and Responsibilities:In this role you will have the opportunity to use your experience and skills to work with specific business groups on business strategies related to Product Stewardship for the Oil & Gas business primarily supporting EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).This position can be remote- depending on the location of the candidate.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with defined business areas, regulatory agencies, and consultants to ensure products comply with REACH regulations and other relevant chemical safety standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of REACH regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to product stewardship practices. in support of the Oil & Gas Global Business Unit (GBU).
- Manage the product registration program for REACH and REACH-like regulations (e.g. EU REACH, UK REACH, Korea REACH, Turkey REACH (KKDIK)) and similar regulatory requirements).
- Prepare and submit REACH registration dossiers, safety data sheets (SDS), and other required documentation. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory authorities.
- Provide product stewardship guidance while working with specific business groups to develop alternate business strategies to support markets in EMEA and other regions as necessary.
- Work closely with the innovation teams, to develop registration strategies for newly developed products, so that they can be brought to market safely in compliance with required regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard evaluations for chemical substances. Collaborate with research and innovation (R&I) teams to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with product development.
- Collaborate with Syensqo’s Hazard Communication team to support the maintenance of SDSs (Safety Data Sheets), labels, and other hazard communication information for defined business areas.
- Work closely with internal teams, including R&I, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Quality Assurance, to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and industry associations, to advocate for Syensqo’s interests.
- Work with product stewardship staff from other zones and GBUs (Global Business Units) on common issues, goals, and objectives.
- Conduct assessments and ensure proper implementation of the product safety/product stewardship management system, programs, and practices.
- Respond to internal and external requests for product safety information on company products, including biocides.
- Interact extensively with internal and external customers, both domestic and international.
- Interact with competitors in SIEFs, consortia and similar fora.
- Keep abreast of and assess international chemical control laws and pending regulatory developments through reference sources.
- Support the Export Compliance effort of the EMEA business.
- Provides appropriate training on regulations in the EU to O&G GBU colleagues.
- Extract and analyze substance volume data from SAP systems to ensure accurate monitoring and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data extraction processes, providing critical insights for compliant chemical management.
- Coordinate interaction with the legal department on regulatory issues.
- Assesses regulatory changes and their impact to the business based on an advanced understanding of regulatory guidelines and applicable EU laws.
Education and Experience
- Masters or Bachelors degree in a Science subject, with a strong academic background in chemistry.
- Experience and understanding of regulatory affairs or product safety in the context of REACH regulations is mandatory.
- A minimum of 5 years chemical industry experience in product safety or regulatory affairs is required.
- A background in biocides and off-shore chemical regulations would be an advantage.
Skills
- Ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders at different technical levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with SAP EHS would be an advantage.
