If you have a passion for performance, value a collegial and collaborative culture, and approach work with the highest integrity, invest your career here.Job DescriptionAs an Associate, reporting to the Manager, Group Accounting & Reporting team, you will support investment and fund accounting activities to ensure transactions are accounted for correctly in the investment subledger within SimCorp Dimensions (accounting book of record) and provide support for internal and external reporting. You will lead various projects and strategic initiatives for your department by collaborating with cross functional teams to implement and monitor solutions.Team DescriptionThe Group Accounting & Reporting team operates within the Financial Policy and Reporting (FP&R) department. This team oversees the accounting book of record for investments (Simcorp Dimensions or, SCD) and responsible for managing the investment accounting period end close, fund accounting activities and the accounting configuration setup within the investment ledger. In addition, the team plays a crucial role in supporting the investment ledger for implementation of new products, investment structures, system enhancements and upgrades to our internal business partners.Role-Specific Accountabilities:
- Effectively collaborate on key initiatives and connect with other teams across Finance, Investment Operations and Technology & Data
- Proactively identify process inefficiencies, recommend, and lead process improvements while considering upstream/downstream impacts. Use technical tools (i.e.: Tableau, SQL, Python, macros, etc.) to analyze large data sets and streamline reporting processes
- Support the Investment Departments’ new products and initiatives by actively participating in key discussions with other stakeholder groups. Work with IF&A team to lead testing efforts and implement SCD accounting configuration changes based on requirements.
- Assist with the period end close process for the investment ledger, including subledger/general ledger reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, exception handling of transactions
- Support external reporting requirements by preparing/reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual investment & financial schedules, reconciliations, and audit requests relating to financial statements and accounting controls
- Support daily fund accounting activities such as reconciliations of the Net Asset Value and cash flows and other month end controls
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or advanced degree – Finance, Accounting, Business, etc.
- 5+ year of relevant experience in investment accounting / investment operations in pension fund or financial services industry
- Proven track record of leading process automation projects; Identifying and recommending efficiencies to processes; Experience working with automation tools; Tableau will be added advantage
- Strong working knowledge of diverse investment products
- Understanding of investment accounting standards, controls, and reporting practices considered an asset
- Working experience with SimCorp Dimensions considered an asset
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, etc.) considered an asset
- Flexible, adaptable and able to prioritize to deliver results
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Solid interpersonal and organizational skills combined with the ability to readily adapt to rapidly changing investment environments
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and leverages strong relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrate good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work in a high performing culture with time-sensitive deadlines under minimal guidance
