DESCRIPTIONAmazon is seeking an innovative Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead our Personalization Privacy program. This role sits at the intersection of two critical priorities: delivering personalized experiences while safeguarding customer privacy.As our privacy-preserving personalization expert, you’ll architect solutions that balance innovation with protection, mapping how customer data flows through Amazon’s systems and ensuring our personalization strategies align with evolving regulations like GDPR and DMA. You’ll partner with Principal Engineers and senior leaders to make high-stakes decisions about technical architecture, drive implementation of privacy-preserving features, and build a comprehensive 3+ year roadmap for technical innovation.This role demands someone who can both dive deep into complex data flows and zoom out to shape strategic privacy practices across Amazon personalization-powered experiences.   • Define and own Amazon’s global privacy-preserving personalization strategy, including multi-year roadmap development and organizational alignment at the VP level.
  • Lead investment planning and resource allocation across engineering organizations to deliver privacy-centric personalization initiatives.
  • Establish governance frameworks and architectural standards for privacy-compliant personalization systems, partnering with Principal Engineers and senior technical leaders.
  • Drive strategic compliance planning for GDPR, DMA, and emerging global privacy regulations, translating complex requirements into actionable technical programs.
  • Own executive-level relationships and alignment across privacy, personalization, and business stakeholders, serving as the bridge between technical implementation and business strategy.
  • Direct the scoping and execution of large-scale technical transformations that fundamentally improve how Amazon handles customer data across its personalization systems.
  • Build and lead the organizational structure for privacy-preserving personalization, including standard-setting, decision frameworks, and operational excellence mechanisms.
  • Drive consensus on complex technical decisions related to privacy architecture and implementation approaches.
  • Own quarterly business reviews and strategic planning sessions with VP-level stakeholders, ensuring privacy initiatives align with broader organizational objectives.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators that demonstrate the business impact and effectiveness of privacy-preserving personalization initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS– 10+ years of engineering experience
– 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
– 5+ years of software development experience
– Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedulesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
